Title: Diagnostics - Error codes
Post by: VladTepes on Monday, 23 January 2017, 03:08 PM
It is possible, even easy, to discover any dealer fault codes on your bike.  No special tools needed.

1. Take off the seat and remove the battery tray top.

2. In there next to the battery are a number of multi-connectors. Ignore the larger black one.  The one you want is a smaller white one.

3. The white one has two particular wires going to it. A white / red one and a black / white one. The black / white one is an earth.

4. Looking closely, ascertain which of the connector terminals these two wires go to. Then - while the ignition is on or running -  take a paperclip or any other suitable conductor and short across the two terminals.

5. The bike will display an error code in the LCD display in the speedo. c00 is no faults founds whereas c34 is an injector problem with number 3 cylinder.

All the error codes are listed in the factory manual.
(see also the easy reference documents in the downloads section of this forum)

This "trick" will save you purchasing Suzuki special tool 09930-82710 The Mode Select Switch. It effectively puts the bike from 'User' mode into 'Dealer' mode.

There are 2 combinations for the FI light:
A) Flashing FI light (and Flashing FI letters in LCD display) means that the bike will run
Or
B) FI light constantly on (and FI letters in the LCD display) means the Bike will not run.
To access the "Dealer Mode" Fault Codes to give you the actual fault code you will have to leave the ignition on with the RED FI Light and FI Displayed in the Speedo LCD, and using a spare key to remove the seat, and battery cover. (Please Note Turning off the Ignition will wipe out the code, the ignition must not be turned off if you wish to access the Fault code when FI light is on).

K2, K3 & K4 Twin exhaust models - located in the battery/ECU area is a 2 pin plug, bridge the 2 wires (Black with White Tracer wire and the White with Red tracer wire) to get the fault the codes in the LCD display.

K5, K6, K7 Final Edition models - located in the battery/ECU area is a white multi plug with a black rubber cap, the plug has four wires, with the following colours â€"
1) Black with White tracer
2) White with Red tracer
3) Orange with Green tracer
4) Grey with red Tracer.

To get the actual fault code up in the LCD Display a circuit will need to be made by joining the Black with White Tracer wire and the White with Red tracer wire with a piece of wire or paper clip.
