Title: Barmy in Oz
Post by: Sweaty on Monday, 11 December 2017, 09:07 AM
Just wondering how your trip down under went Dave. Hope you enjoyed it mate. You can probably tell me a few things about the place. Been overseas quite a bit, but as usual, I have only seen the east coast of my own country.

I can't remember Sweaty, did we get any pic's of said trip?  I know someone (Buddy?) had a beer or 3 with him, but don't recall any actual photographic evidence of said visit.   (Ole timers disease on my part maybe?)

Yeah he's a slack bugger. Comes all this way and doesn't even waste any of his time flying out of his way to see me.. really :coffeescreen:

No Col, i have not seen or heard anything that proves he actually came here  :smile2:
So until i see some pics, then it never happened. As for Buddy, well, there is always a favourite

OK ok - I have been holding off on posting because I guess I was one of the few Aussies he caught up with BUT now that you have asked

Pic 1 - Dave sent picture of the lovely Kathy and himself so we could recognise them when we met (Minus the Koala)
Pic 2 - As a result of Daves picture I obliged and sent Dave a picture of Fiona and mygoodself (Minus the frilled neck lizard)
Pic 3 - The evidence that we got together

Are you sure that's the real Dave?  not his doppelganger?   :stir:
The real Dave only has stumps where his fingers were, caused from years and years of polishing anything & everything.

Nice to see a pic though, thx.

Didn't think you guys would want to see touristy type photos LOL. But yes my wife and I had a great time visiting Australia, would like to have caught up with a number of you, but our schedule (unfortunately) was a little hectic. As we spent sometime up Cairns way at Port Douglas, Trinity Beach and the Atheryon Tablelands - also it was where we had built in some downtime to refresh our clothes - we were able to meet up with a Buddy.

I'll post a few pics up later from our trip. Sure as hell missing it right now with 4cm of snow and a temp of -2 to -5 outside at present!

We used to have a name for 'non stop' trips back in the day . . .  Rice Burners.
The Asians were forever doing them, 12 - 18 hours flying, then off sightseeing on arrival from dawn to dusk for 3-5 days. The poor buggers were absolutely shot & slept on the coaches, come to a stop, all awake, snap pic, back on & asleep again. Reason they took so many pic's was cause they never saw it while they were there!

Anyway, I don't think you'd have done that to yourself.   Yep bung up the pic's, I've not seen much of our west island as yet, only a small bit of it.

Well it's going to be 31,35,39 Celsius for the next 3 days & between 30-37 for 5 days after that in north/west Sydney, so a big difference for sure  :8:

Ya wouldn't want to be having an off dressed like that Taz.
Great pic though, bet it brings back memories, and after all, that's what it's all about, living & having nice things to recall.

That thing would never fall over - The exhaust, the panniers, the side steps - it would all keep the thing upright.  :stir:

Did you get to that lookout without scraping anything?
