Del
sad news grog hopefully all can be sorted quickly and you can get on with life .at least you and yours are safe and well.
Just glad nobody got injured.
Disheartening but you are safe - and it can be rebuilt!
Stay safe!
Stan
Here in the Netherlands, that didn't get any coverage.
The only news we got about Australia last week was the votes regarding same sex marriage.
Hope your house gets fixed soon
Hearing you guys are copping it. Very sorry to hear of the damage to your home.
Pleased to hear you and your dearest are ok. Thinking of you. Kia kaha Greg.
So saddened to read this Greg. That's a hell of a blow to take at this time of year especially and at this time of your life.
Hope help arrives soonest for you n yours.
Glad you're uninjured, a small blessing, but at times like this we have to count the small ones, as there aren't too many big ones.
Col.
Really saddened, hope all works out.
Thoughts will be with you.
That's really bad news Grog, especially at this time of year. Glad you and your family (and bike) are all okay and hope you get it sorted soon.
Today was life changing. My mate was here in an hour, left his generator, tonite we had tv, a light and fridge. My wife was front story on abc news. Superstar, she is brilliant.i hope all wives are as good. Tree all cut down, amazing job. They cleaned ip debris, cant believe how good. People calling into help, young blokes who insidted they must help. Tv crews, radio people. What a day. My faith in humanity restored. Could be a long haul to fix but quite liveable if power can be restored. That could be quite a few days.
That's excellent news grog. Its amazing when things like this happen how everyone pulls together. I'm assuming then that the house can be repaired and you can continue to live there whilst work is on-going. If so, that's brilliant!
Hi Grog,
It's good that you and the wife are OK, everything else can be fixed.
Rick
Sorry to hear of your woes brother. It is a shitty thing to have happened so close to Christmas. The upside is, no one was injured and your bike is OK. Humanity is an amazing thing and when the chips are down and you need help it comes with no strings attached. Well done to all your helpers, now new friends. Best wishes to you and your family. :hat: :hat: :hat:
With all the shit that's going on in the world today, it's great to hear there are some 'real' human beings who put others before themselves and help out in such situations! It's at times like this that you realise there are some good people out there.....
Grog... hope you get everything sorted mate!
Thats positive news.
I feel today we have all been waiting to hear how you are getting on. Thanks for letting us know. You must be so busy at this time.
Good luck with it all.
Agree with all the above positive comments. Glad people rallied round & supported a local in need. :onya:
its great how people can be when something like this happens.
glad your all ok and hopefully things are starting to become more liveable for you and thinks start to get sorted asap.
I know the feeling, we were flooded out once and it was awful. Had to move out for 10 months while it was all repaired.
If it's any consolation, the shock only lasts a little while. The most important thing is that your people are safe. Stuff can be replaced (even bikes).
By the way, is this the story: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-10/storm-damage-queensland-sunshine-coast/9244558
Glad to hear people have rallied around for you Grog, warms the heart!
Good luck with the re build !
Red
Hope all works out for you Grog and your can be repaired. I didn't hear anything about the storm but I don't watch news on TV. Just turned it on it's all about Power costs. I had a big tree 4 metres from my house was glad to get rid of it a couple of years ago.
Glad you're all ok Grog, could've been a tragedy. Hope you get sorted soon mate, there are some good people in the world and you obviously have a few around you.
Good luck
Chris
Glad you and your family are physically ok Grog - looked to be messy up there over the weekend
Sorry to hear the news Grog, but glad everyone & bike are ok. Its great to hear the more positive news now & hope it all gets sorted soon.
Thanks everybody. Just gotta fix it now. The little video on abc link is my place.
Far feckin' out !
Just saw this ! Jeez mate if there's ANYTHING I can do to help just let me know :)
I've only just seen this too
Grog...Glad no one was injured or worse. Hope it gets sorted out quickly for you.
If the report Mister Fishfinger posted up WAS your place...Nasty!!
Bloody hell
Worse than cyclone
Hope it ends well mate
I suppose on a more positive note though Grog, at least you won't be short of logs for any wood burner you may have for the next few years - and helps get some revenge on the tree for falling on your property!
That sounds horrific glad your all OK
That's no good mate, sorry to see it and hope it all work out for you.
hows it goin blokes. just got power back on. everything working perfect. huge drama but ive dealt with it. amazing how no elecrtricity affects your life. just gotta wait for insurance assessors now. house quite livieable at present. this is from pc, cant believe it all restarted so easily. guy who connected power asked me if i rode a bike, recognied my work pants. told me i passed him all the time. nice harley he said. maybe i do need exhaust upgrade. :)
Maybe you should investigate why you are only runing on two first :whistling:
maybe 4 would scare me too much, love it on two
Hows progress Grog. Hope things are happening on the repair front.
thanks kiwi, appreciated. house tarped up, power back. everything worked perfectly inside, electric i mean, tvs computer etc. now have a operations manager, good bloke. everything goes thru him. wait now for builders appraisal, maybe engineers. have found doors not closing, cracked tiles, out of level windows. i think house is still moving, doors opened sunday but not now. wait n see now. told no re building/repairs until late january at least. just heard a big bang on roof, just hope its safe. nice to get a ride in today.
Thats good that the house is weather tight. Its a bugger of a time of year to try and get anything done. Àt least you are able to still live there so you can maintain some normality over xmas and the new year.
You must have enjoyed your ride, always so good to clear the head after a bit of drama.....hope the sugars are back to normal. Thanks for the update. :onya:
Hope things head in the right direction for you Grog.
How you managing at home with the tree damage. Got thru xmas all good l trust.
thanks for caring kiwi, really appreciated. nothing has happened with repairs, xmas time. me and neighbour have cleared all tree stuff from side/front of house. they just didnt come back. phones turned off. i carted all the tree stuff myself, from front nature strip to across road. over 30 degree day, totallt wrecked me. that arvo neighbours son came, we cut n cleared most. biggest prob is no front gutters, lots of storms, water just washing dirt / garden beds away. they can pay me for time spent and garden re newal. hoping for some action soon. house looking good, doing my usual stuff. just annoying when i sit down for a beer, its wrecked.
hopefully you'll get something sorted soon and your life back to a more normal asap.
old story. my house flattened 9th december. well today, only around 10 weeks later, actually got a call from insurance company. only after i went ballistic on phone. nothing has happened, still tarp on roof, gutters are stuffed. fences still down. have made numerous phone calls, left messages. so over it, really does my head in. left out to dry. i live in australia not south pole. patience i have, not anymore. have taken 3 direct debits for cover since storm, very cranky now. now have phone numbers for ombudsman and tv crew.
Thats a crazy wait buddy.
No wonder you went bonkers i hope you get something sorted and life back to some kind or normality asap :onya:
That would be bloody frustrating Grog & hope you get some response from the arseholes. It's a pity they push people to this extent, just to get what they have payed for and deserve.
I'm sure if it was their own home, they had to live in like that, it would be sorted out in 2 weeks.
Sorry to hear this Grog, but its how they work. If one out of ten put there insurance claim in the too hard basket......big saving for insurance company.
A sign on your front lawn advising everyone of the insurance companies name and their lack of interest might prompt some action.
You've got my sympathy for sure. I've been in a similar situation a few years back when our house was flooded. It's incredibly stressful. Luckily our insurance company wasn't too bad to deal with, but I still had issues with builders and so on (long story).
In times of crisis, people can sometimes be magnificent and restore your faith in humanity. Unfortunately, as someone else pointed out here, they can also be arseholes.
I hope your plan to name and shame them bears fruit, good luck.
That's a real pisser Grog, these buggers are all too keen to take your money but a bit slow when it comes to giving a bit back, bastards :furious:
3 months today since my house got wrecked. today finally signed repair order. action should happen now. just on 70grand to repair without internal stuff.
Wow is that what a quadruple garage / workshop with triple bike lifts and full Snap-on kit costs?
;) ;)
I wish Speedy. Shed just gets 2 new doors and barge board. Its 65 sq metres, concrete floor so not too bad. Was actually the local butcher shop in 1950s, cant find any photos unfortunately.
4 months later, everything happening. front verandah 1/2 finshed. new roof next week for all of house. new garage doors. whole house getting re tiled. scaffold erected around house, thats for roofers. tv aerial man showed. tree stumps all gone. has been nothing but now all go.
That sounds like great news. You are a very patient man.
Hope it all goes smoothly.
Great it's finally getting done, takes a weight off. It's a real shame they dragged it out so long causing more unnecessary stress on you & your family.
update my house story. work getting done. brand new shiny roof. front verandah repaired. inside about to start. have to move out 10 days, resort in caloundra all paid for. just on 2 g. lots of other repairs but a great job. will end up nearly 100g. long time to happen but just glad i had insurance. sorry to bore you blokes, i know not a bike subject. my bike is being hidden away in my unreal mothers garage for time away. couldnt sleep if stayed at home. ill try to post pic where we staying.
Thats an upside to all the drama , hassle and delays. Make the most of it. Dont normally hear of having a holiday on an insurance company. :onya:
Nice one Grog :onya: Good to hear things are getting back on track...
Good to hear it's nearly all sorted Grog.
Enjoy your little beach break as well :onya:
Cracker view from up there Grog. It's good it's all coming together at last. :onya:
Nice its all coming good after all the hassle you've had grog, including a paid holiday as well - result! (tell them you want proper compensation for all the delays and nothing less than 10 days in a top hotel on Hamilton Island will do LOL)
After all that you deserve a great vacation!
ill tell them that Barmy, say you said so. photo was from top storey but were staying bottom, my mrs cant do elevators, freak her out. still a great place. im actually impressed with work done now. slow start but hasnt really worried me. quite an adventure to come home and see whats new.
That looks tough to take mate. Good pic.
I was in Caloundra ANZAC day arvo. :)
Now at our temp accomodation. Very nice. Bike all locked up at home, 2 chains thru it plus disc lock. My house now has a black plastic look, stops the dust from jack hammer digging all my old tiles out. What a mess. Two weeks home to all new.
story nearly finished. house nearly finished. came home to lots of new paint, ceiling all re done. front half of house totally re tiled. brilliant job. lots of new timber work, doors painted. they sent cleaners in, windows n all. totally amazed. just waiting front verandah re paint, new garage doors and front door security door. i have a couple of complaints, very minor, theyll fix. 88 thou. repairs so far. please make sure your insurance is up to date, certainly helped me. slow to start but once they did, wow.
Great news Grog! Good to hear insurance actually works :onya:
good to hear mate all but a few jobs and the sanagging to go :onya: :onya:
Nice it's all just about finished :boogie:
Excellent mate. So when do you reckon you'll be moving back in?
back in last friday. have nearly finished putting all the stuff back in its place. had a clean out, threw lots. all old bike mags etc. a good clean out. new garage doors coming friday. front verandah to be painted. paint stinks but very happy.
Glad your finally getting life back to normal grog .
I'll have to drop in mate when its a good time for you and we can have a ride. Some calipers might even find their way into my topbox....
Leo Vince can is back, would be a fair swap.
