Title: Almost stacked it...
Post by: HLAH on Saturday, 25 November 2017, 06:23 PM
Made a complete goose of myself a few days ago...

After re-locating & being off the bike for a bit I had a new rear tyre installed at a new-to-me shop, bit of banter followed by the obligatory caution from the mechanic of new tyres/wax coatings/associated danger etc & the bill paid and I was good to go...

In dry conditions on tarseal upon leaving the bike shop I gave it a little whilst turning hard left in 2nd.....& FUCK did it let go....

the back washed out & just didnt grab/kept slipping...the closest Ive been to having a woopsie/dropping it, how I managed not too was just sheer luck...

donno how many people from the bike shop would have saw it but if they had have they would have been thinking what a tit...

lesson learned...

Adam

lucky man bro. they can be slippery new tyres. had it happen once, similar story. my answer is, a sheet of 100/200 wet n dry. go over whole tyre tread. main reason i do this, sometimes it takes us a while to bed tyre in, have the extreme edges bedded in, youll only find out when needed. my way gives me confidence, takes 5 mins.

I give new tyres a really good wipe down with a rag soaked in acetone - then a good 50 miles tippy toeing
