Title: headlight globe

5 yr old mercedes today, low beam out. genuine $1200, another parts supplier $520, another $120. ended up sourcing for $40. i checked out the writing on factory fitted blown one, phillips, germany. checked new globe, phillips germany. they make me sick.

Agreed Grog!  Merc genuine parts are just soooo expensive! Ridiculously so.

I think all car and bike manufacturers are much the same, put stupid prices on replacement items. Biggest rip off to me is for alloy wheels and what they charge for replacements, often less than £100 including stocking to the manufacturer (irrelevant of car make) but charge ludicrous prices to the public. Big business in the U.K. where we get so many potholes in winter, so quite a few wheels get buckled.

On my daughters car, steer8ng rack needed replacing. Cost of rack from Ford was £550. Same part but without the Ford stamp on it was £300.

Outrageous.
