Title: Yes, I AM showing off
Post by: Teufel on Monday, 13 November 2017, 11:29 AM
Finally managed to scrape the magneto cover and side stand mount. See pic.
Very proud, and yes, I am showing off.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the best and/or cheapest jack up blocks.
I saw the thread on making a pair, but would much prefer aluminium.
I may try that anyway, but as Mr Tony said, patience is not my greatest asset. :boogie:

Thats a long way over !!

I made a kit out of steel just because I don't have welder for welding aluminium. Arc welder, drill and angle grinder did the job. Making it out of aluminium would be easier...

Bloody good effort! Only way I'd get those down is by crashing.

I'd replace that missing bolt in the engine mount asap though.

First let me say this happened at the track. It's the fastest corner 200-205kmh, or 8500 in 4th, and it has a couple of bumps.
I am quite sure that's how it happened.
Thank you all. Great to get some positive replies.
Mr N. I have rear sets. They are about 25mm higher, 10mm back and 25mm shorter, so the left one hasn't even touched yet, but a fair bit has been ground off the right one. I'd add pics but the bike is with a friend for the next month.
Kiwifruit and Hooli, the bolt spins out because it's on the left side and spins anti clockwise when it touches. I have put it back in with loctite this time. We'll see what happens.
Daytona, the foot's okay but my leg is infected because the bike fell over on me as I took it off the trailer and the gear shift gouged my shin.
All good, I just wish someone else would show up with a 1400.

Funny isn't it...... at a track day one of the instructors said to me "Nice Bike" used to use one for instructing but didn't like the way it bottomed out on the sidestand bracket.
Well there you go !!

I hadn't even thought about the spinning effect of grounding out.

Buddynq, Come on Down. That was at Lakeside just North of Brisbane. It's a great track but I also like to go to Morgan Park (Warwick) and Eastern Creek in Sydney. I usually manage about 3 visits per year to each of them and maybe a couple of Queensland Raceway for race your mates. Hoping to get to Wakefield sometime soon and of course Philip Island someday.
Have you been to the Mako track at Mareeba? That would be fun on a 1400.
TN, I have replaced the right hand bolts a few times, but now the actual mount is fairly worn away. Fortunately, I have a spare.
So life is good.

As much the last owners doing as well as mine. Not so easy now I've jacked the rear up. I do know of at least 3 GSX's locally that are as bad or worse though.

I'm no great rider. Mine is due to me arse'ing about and being a clown.
I could have avoided mine with a bit of effort but that's no fun is it?

Pretty sure they don't allow big bikes at Mako. I think they stopped cars as well. They only legal fun for big bikes is drag strip at Springmount.
I want to finish California Superbike School level 3&4 at Phillip Is.
got some leave racked up so hoping to plan a trip next year.
