Title: Fuel pump
Post by: Mrg on Wednesday, 08 November 2017, 07:29 AM
Hi guys

Well my bike has started to play up a little ,as much as when I am starting the bike up I turn the key and the bike does the normal sweep of the clocks ,  but the normal hum of the fuel pump has not being heard the f1 light shows , so I flick the engine switch on off and this sometimes clears it and the hum of the fuel pump comes in and it's starts  and the f1 light goes off.
But other times it won't clear it and I've had to turn the key off wait a few sec then turn it back on and see if it starts

So is it the kill switch
Is it the fuel pump
Is it the ignition key barrel
Cheers guys

Could be any of the above and also clutch switch and/or side stand switch. Possibly the big grey plug under the LH side panel.

The easy one is the big grey plug under the LH side panel. Pull it apart, squirt some contact cleaner in and re-assemble.

Next I'd look at the kill switch, take it off, contact cleaner and re-assemble. I think you get the drift going forwards.

Oh - also check the wire at the back of the tank (the one you undo when you take the tank off) hasn't chafed either.

Let's start with that lot and see where you get on. It's certainly one of the contacts somewhere for sure.
