Title: Cracking day out!
Post by: ARH on Monday, 16 October 2017, 03:23 AM
Stunning day out today..... 450km in superb weather, on some cracking roads and beautiful scenery, lunch at the legendary (at least in Austria 😜) Kalte Kuchle.... Which is at the junction of three of the best roads in the region.  Got most of it on vid, so will edit and load some of it here later.
Suzi never missed a beat, I've been grinning ear to ear all day and keeping those GP wanna bees wishing they had a bike with such presence.... 15 years old and I still love her to bits!  Only down side?  Now I need a new rear tyre.... the T30 seems to have fallen of a cliff even tho there is still 2k left in it!  Was great up until now,  might be time to try something else.  Anyway, weathers going to turn any day now so the bike will be in hibernation for the winter.

Cheers!
Alen

I am soooo jealous !!
Look gorgeous in your part of the world..
I think that sort of climate would suite me perfectly.
I am not into scorching temperatures !

Grog... been pretty good.. good all round grip and fine in the wet (only happened once, 😂).  It's done around 10k and it's worn fairly evenly , but I can already feel it's 'gone off' and I reckon there's are 2 k left in it.  Don't know how else to describe it... but it just doesn't feel as 'grippy'.  I am certainly not one for hammering it about the countryside, and still have small chicken strips on each side... can't really say I'm hard on tyres. 😁

Would I buy again ... probably... I've been a fan of Bridgestone for a while...last 2 sets were 23's.  t 30 is certainly as good as the 23.

ARH, I had the Bridgestone 023's and changed to Angel GT's. "In my opinion". Do yourself a favour & try the Pirelli's. They are way better alround and give you a lot more confidence in all conditions (over here anyway)
I couldn't believe how much difference there was & you don't realise till you try.

i agree, angel gt are brilliant. nearly up to 20thks mine. front is stuffed but rear has lots left. they just work perfectly for me, wet or dry. straight line stability the big winner, just never wiggle. pr2 before, great tyres also but less ks and move around over white lines, tar snakes. pirelli far better. imo.only.

Cheers lads!  Seems the Angel GT are favoured by a lot of 14 riders.

20 thousand Grog!!! What are you doing...pushing the bike up the road? 🤣🤣🤣. Seriously that's a lot of k's on a set of tyres on a bike like the 14 - amazing the front has gone before the rear?

Anyway... will change over to the Pirellis next year... no sense in doing it now just to lie over the winter.

On that note... does it make sense to change both front and rear?  Or will the Pirelli behave with a T30 front (still loads left on it)?  Any advice always gratefully received 👍

Just had Angel GT's fitted on mine. Will try them out at the weekend weather permitting.

Pirelli's are good, but personally I find the Michelin PR4 to be just that bit better, bit smoother and a tad more grip and wear.

Horses for courses though, one man's preference may not be another's. You won't go far wrong with either.

Out of interest Ian, what tyres did you replace ?
Will be interesting to hear your thoughts.

It does make sense to change both, but I would probably leave the front till it wore down a bit (I don't like waist, or I'm a tight arse) you decide.

What did you think of the Pilots in the wet ?

They were fine fruit, never gave me any reason to worry which helped with confidence as I'd not ridden the 14 in the wet before that. I'd certainly go for them again as they are hard wearing and more than sticky enough if I want to throw her around a bit 👍
