I was a wee bit naughty today whilst tootling around a back country road & gave it a quick squirt up to 210 (ish) km/h...Ive regularly hit 220 before running out of back straight on me local track days & speculate their wouldn't be a hell of a lot more left in it with standard gearing? (pulling around 75-8000rpm)
Has anyone here completely tapped one of these things out & just how fast did it go?
Id like to find out but I also like my Drivers licence...
I may have allegedly pushed the 1400 to the limit - showed 140 MPH on the clock ( quite blurred ) which is around 225 KPH but my sat nav shows around 10 Mph less :smile2:
The theoretical top speed at the red line is 191mph, at max power it is 144mph. In reality I would be surprised if it would top a genuine 140mph, even in really good conditions. It has the aerodynamics of a breeze block.

During a dyno run, needle of my speedo was on 6 o'clock... It's ~300km/h without considering speedo correction.

My 1st 14 did 220 kph. With added small screen 225. On my 2nd I did 225 kph (no screen). May have done more but my jacket was flattering so badly and my jet helmet feeling like blowing off that I broke off the attempt.
Been hunting corners in the Eifel 4 days this week. Loads of fun trying to raze these Metzeler (Z8) elephants.
My slightly tweaked K2 will display 163mph (estimated by me as that's slightly off the clock) when asked any time I want it to. It might have got the needle to the bottom right corner of the odometer twice with a slight tailwind too.
Whatever they do, it's plenty in an open face with sunglasses on. Judging by my speedo seeming to over read by about 8% that's a true 140-145mph, which feels about right.
The clock was showing over 260, but the GPS showed 242 km/h.. Engine was pulling hard but it was enough (=too much) for me.
NELLY did 136 mph, through a trap at liverpool airport, wasnt safe at that speed but she did it twice,
They'll do that in 4th, try harder!
My goodness.
I thought I was going to blown off the back at 120 KPH with my small screen.
Guess I'm getting too old for all this stuff, I'll just keep to 90 KPH and take in the sights.
I have had mine at 237Kph clocked by my GPS, but have 17/35T rear sprocked, engine goes to 5600RPM & won't pull past that.
I have had 220kph on the clock but with no screen it quickly gets to be a chore.
If I want to go a wee bit faster and shift less gears I just jump on the FJR.
once had 240 on clock, real speed . no idea. 10% less i guess. sure was windy, couldnt let that bloody Audi get away. he didnt.
Jeez... some of you guys must have bigger balls than me :rofl2: I get to 175kph and think 'that's enough'.... sssh don't tell the wife!
THE BIKE WAS SAFE AT THAT SPEED, I DIDNT FEEL SAFE WITH ALL THEM SCOUCERS,HANGING ABOUT WAITING TO ROB ANYTHING

Maybe faster if you left it in 5th Derek.

Tried that Pete, just wouldn't go past 6800rpm in 5th.
This is how fast the Blue'n'White ones go standing still!

Is that what it is? I thought there was a mouse in there with a water pistol!
My 2007 Black beauty went like a fart in a fan factory. Long straight, slight tail wind, tight leathers and tucked in like a tick on an old stag, I had the 1400 well off the clock past the 260kmh mark. It was like riding into a hurricane and my neck now looks like Arnold Swarzaneggers. True story, I'm 75 kilos and love going fast.
The factor limiting speed in practice is the aerodynamics - naked bike and sit up riding position it will never be nice at really high speeds, but that's not the point of muscle bikes anyway.
Speedwise I haven't tapped it our solo but can vouch that it'll happily do 200kph two-up with luggage.
Allegedly ;)
Wow, over 6 yrs from my post.Never tried again. Hard work on 14 at warp speed, Rocket 3 much harder, 220 and hard to keep grip on bars.Diavel way different, wind it up and just easy, 260 feels like 120, guess its little screen was wind tunnel tested.
When I was younger and stupider I wound the GSX to Maximum Warp Speed on the clock I couldn't see anything in focus and took almost as long to pull up as it did to get there. White posts on the side of the road were like a white picket fence 😳
Aprilia Mille saw 285kmh on dash board recording which was quickly reset incase Plod turned up.
Aaahhhh those were the days 😈😈🤡🤡☠️☠️
I don't even try these days,I bought the 1400 for the torque and roll on,which it is very good at ! 160kph is about it for me ! :boogie: :rofl2:
My gsxr1000 k6 was limited to 299 .That thing was made for speed, but I got too old to ride bent over (now 74 !).
I'm about the same Roo, 160 - 180 is plenty for me these days. :onya:
Reached 299km/h on the dyno and on German autobahn 260 on the speedometer but as the most say it wasn't very comfy. Now using the 43T in the back think the top speed will be about the same but it reaches it easier.
I do like the Suzuki's power but for a 1400 it still feels a little soft.
I had a Kwaka Zx14 a few years ago and that thing despite having the same engine size and similar dimensions made the mighty GSX 1400 feel like a 250..
200 kph is enough for me these days on the twisties.

Fit yoshi cams won't be loads fast but it'll have loads more pull especially where you need it .
