Title: ACF50
Post by: biggix on Tuesday, 26 September 2017, 08:06 AM
Does anyone use ACF50 on their bikes? Only just heard about it and wondered if it is as good as I've read?

I have it but havent used it on THIS bike.
My flat has an outdoor gas meter in a cupboard and the gas pipes were very rusty.
I gave them a liberal coating of ACF-50 and all is well..
To be honest I dont fancy a layer of road crap that sticks to the ACF-50 on my bike..
I suppose I will spray the neglected frame area underneath the engine where it doesnt show.

Thanks for the reply speedy, I did read that if stuff is sticking to it, it has been applied too thick?
I might just bite the bullet and try some and see how it goes.

In the U.K., many who ride regularly all year round use ACF50 in the winter across the engine and bright areas. Yes the crap sticks to it. Yes the bike looks minging. Come spring though, a good clean with engine degreaser removes it all to reveal an engine not affected by the elements.

Is it good? Yes, if in winter you don't have time to clean your bike fully after every ride it is as it protects it from the salt and other mucky which sprays up. If however you do have time for a full clean after each ride then it's something you don't need.

I 100% agree with Barmy on this.. In our climate its great if your lazy like me.. I mean Barmy would have heart failiure if he saw the state my bikes get into.. If you have time to clean then do it.. if not ACF it.

It's something I don't think you need living in OZ biggix. I wouldn't go spraying it on my bike, when you can just give it a quick clean now & then.

I'm normally not too bad with cleaning my bikes but I have recently moved right near the beach and even though the bikes will be in a garage, anyone who knows WA knows about our sea breezes and the mist they carry with them, so just looking at giving an extra bit of protection from the dreaded white powder look on cases etc!!
I've already gone and ordered it (impulse buy much  :embarassed:) so I will give mine and the wife's a very light wipe over and let you know how it goes.
