GSX1400 Owners .org

Having just finished renovating a 56 year old BSA, i'm bored again so i'm going to try something i've never attempted before!

Don't like the skinny round tank on the Triumph T140, don't like the slabby-sided UK version either, so I bought yet another UK tank to 'modify' to my liking.
Its probably OTT, but the saddo in me got me to purchase (a cheappo) air-plannisher for the workshop,  hooked it up & its great!!
In only a few mins I was cobbling-up curves, bumps, impressions etc.
Also bought a new railway-sleeper & carved bowls & various radii into it to act as basic formers for tin-bashing, & whilst I was at it, made a big 'ol teardrop mallet from a lump of wood!
Next job is to make 3D formers around the tank, chop them about until I get a shape & like, then the fun begins, trying to do sheet-steelwork around it, this is completely new for me, now don't get me wrong, this might end in disaster & it all ends up in the bin, wouldn't be the first time, but the thought of a tank I will like drives me on, so watch this space. Grin

hope it turns out right I think what you are about to do is awesome and if you get it wrong do it again  you only learn from getting it wrong well that's my method . :confused1:

That looks like a fun tool Lawrie.

Go for it mate nothing beats a bit of practise :) The only thing I would say though is it might be an idea to practise on beat up old tanks from breakers or autojumbles to get your eye in.
