Was out yesterday, running downhill to a roundabout. Went to blip the throttle on downchange and it wont. Cut out at roundabout. Got it to hold throttle after about 3 goes then off we go. Motor sounds flat, get to the next roundabout and same issue. Get going again, pull into the next gas station and top it off. It took 13 litres. Nevet missed a beat again, throttled well sat at 1100rpm idle no problem.
Have had it do this to me a couple of times before.
Any answers please lads?

That does sound like a blocked filter to me also
I was thinking the same when I read this at lunchtime on my phone. Seem to recall you ran her right down just recently too, yeah? maybe the teabag is partially blocked from running it low, filling to top & the pump doesn't have to work as hard to get a good gulp.

Exactly what i thought Col, running it down so low not long ago has clogged it up i would say.

Thanks guys. Its certainly a mystery. Yes I nearly ran it out a couple of weeks ago and not a miss anywhere, last weekend must have done nearly 450km then two 60km trips during the week with no issues.
I am puzzled why when I open the cap, put fuel in and instantly its all good. Not a miss again. We must have done 120km before getting home. I will investigate the filter, but would it not be a constant issue?
Yeah, it's an odd one.
Now here's an off the wall explanation, say it's the teabag, clogging. Cough cough n stop. You go & bung in 13 more litres, which is swirling the rest of the fuel around & possibly clearing the tea bag enough to let her go again. This would explain it as there's not enough to stop it consistently, just as the crud gets sucked onto the bag.
A way to sort of check it, would be, if it does it again, shake the bike side to side so the fuel sloshes around & hopefully clears the bag.
That's 3c worth. Take a bright torch out & have a look down into the tank, you might be able to see stuff - as I just did before! Mine's not stopping at the mo though.
Mine was regularily cutting out when decelerating downhill, even with a full tank,tried to blip the throttle down changing and nothing - filled up the next half a dozen times with BP super expensive stuff as recommended by Barmy (thanks Dave) - not happened since. :smile2:
So yours has been cleaned internally with the expensive fuel Notty, nicely done. Must have been varnish n gum as even BP 98 won't dissolve grit blocking the bag.
just pull it out and check. best way i reckon. do the external filter, even better. just my opinion. tea bag filter, internal filter and little injector filters. so much to block up. blocked fuel filters on injected motors dont cut power from motor, they just make it stop. thats what ive found.

If you look at how the filter sits in the tank, it's possible all the mucky is sitting around the bottom of the filter, so when your petrol level reaches the top of the mucky, its starts hunting for fuel, get the level of petrol above that and its happier.
