Title: The Devil Makes Work for Idle Hands
Post by: Del on Sunday, 24 September 2017, 10:25 PM
Its pi55ing down up here in Scotland (Never I hear you cry  :happy1: ) so no chance of washing the bike or cutting the grass

So I started sanding down my spare tank in preparation to for a Black paint job - Not to worry Im not cannibalising a decent tank it had a few issues

Now getting the decals off was a pure pain in the proverbial Ar5e but I have a nylon disc for my grinder that made it a lot easier

It doesn't look too bad, maybe a coat of clear over the top.

C'mon Del get the paint off ....... use something a bit coarser maybe even 80 grit to get back to bare steel, before you fill the dents or prime it just beware the bodyfat on our hands will promote rust. So clean thoroughly first.
I laughed too when told that at night class 40 odd years ago. But its true.

Another little paint fact: People say brake fluid wrecks your paint......but not as bad as sunblock does.

But Del wants a black tank, not blue n white n silver.  The amount of top end he'd loose by leaving it like that doesn't bear thinking about! Go the black!

The Blackest Black Stealth bike I can build - begone the chrome and inferior paint

PS Ill still be keeping the K2 panels in the Blue & White just in case

The panels are painted - Midnight Black metallic - tank was fairly banged up but managed to get rid of most of the dings and dents - spent a few hours today flattening and polishing the tank (got the tail and the mudguard still to do )

SUZUKI logo is a BMW Graphite Grey Metallic - I had stencils made up and then applied a few light coats of bast to the tank - It give a much better finish and I managed to tie in the colour to other parts of the bike

Been a while since I did anything on the paint as been working on the bandit a lot - managed to get the mudguard and tail done so shouldnt be too long till I get the panels on and the upgrades ready for the summer blat

still need a final polishing as its too hard to get finished when off the bike

I love that graphite colour Del.
My favourite colour on cars as well.
I think on your GSX we could re name the colour to.........
"Gunsmoke"
Sort of cunjurs up the right image...
