Title: New Zealand Bike Show.
Post by: Kiwifruit on Sunday, 17 September 2017, 09:21 PM
Was invited to join a bunch of fella's going to Auckland for the Bike Show. Got a leave pass from management so thought best give the scooter a birthday seeing as she was going to mix with some good company. We met at one of the guys workshops at 8.30 before setting off on the 250km ride to the show.
We started off under clear skies and that remained the case for about half an hour before we got soaked by a cloud burst. Then rode out into clear sky again and dried out pretty good. Stopped for a coffee about half way and got back on the road again.......fine and warm. Last leg of the journey and we get soaked again. It was a bit spooky because my visor started to fog and with wearing glasses its not always a great idea to even crack the visor. The rain and spray on the motorway made visibility difficult. Now I'm dripping wet and will be staying so for a few hours, gassed up before getting to the show.
They had a good turnout and parking was at a premium. We all split up but all found parks near the entrance.
All the usual manufacturers had their latest models on show and some good looking bikes there were too.
What caught my eye were some of the immaculate oldies. I've put up a few pics but for some reason I didn't take enough. Had a great time at the show, we have a great collection of Classic and Vintage bikes here. I think my favourite was a 1972 Triumph Hurricane....it was pristine. As were so many others.
After wandering around the show for a few hours I was now a warm wet motorcyclist and it was time to mount up and head for home.
Nice easy ride, found some fast winding back roads. I was happy to just hang at the back of our group as I didn't know the roads and some of the guys had some pedigree as racers so I could happily ride at my own pace if things got a bit spirited. No need to have worried, everyone stayed together and had a very enjoyable ride to a watering hole not too far from home for a quiet one. Couple of the guys complimented me on the condition of the 14 also saying they don't make em like that now. I know !!
Got home just as the boss was taking the roast beef out of the oven.......bless her.
What a great day.  :boogie2:

Here a warning from an Internet voice about the Z1R-TC

QuoteMy friends brother had one of these when I was a teenager. He used to melt rear tires like glue sticks on tin roof. Eventually the speed got to him and he went crazy so they locked him up.
