Title: just beautiful
Post by: grog on Thursday, 31 August 2017, 07:36 PM
last saturday, in my car, next to me at lights so only a 30 sec.look at. black n red 14. perfect nick. big braced swing arm, no gauges, just a black tacho. huge turbo hanging off the side, 1700 engraved on cover. was fairly quiet but moved off very well. heading to brisbane so im sure someone knows this bike. solo seat, if its 1700 turbo, must have some grunt. havent heard of that before. would like to see its dyno output.

1700 turbo would be a hoot

I saw a black and red 1400 in traffic a while back which MAY have been that one...  Didn't notice the swingarm or turbo (was probably one the wrong side to see the latter).

Sounds like fun though  :)

I don't get it as to why you need more horsepower on a 1400, they already do a bit of everything well, so why ??? IMHO I couldn't justify spending big $'s on modifying this universal motorcycle

I love the characteristics of the 14. I love the torque and power in low and mid range. It fits my riding profile. Maybe some day I'll get my 14 tuned, but only in a way that does not sacrifice low/mid range power but increases it.

Not sure but I gather that keeping the dual original exhaust cans, changing the down pipes and collector to larger internal diameter, and getting a remapping will do that.

Also believe that a volume increase WITHOUT changing the cams will add to this. Maybe someday I have the budget for this.

High end power does not interest me, even though I got the Autobahn (boring) to use it.

That's why I still have the Bazooka on mine. People say if I bought a pipe and PC3 it would open up the top end. I say if I wanted a faster bike I would have bought the Hayabusa that was sitting next to it in the shop that day.

Just out for a short ride today and was thinking the same thing.  It's the perfect highway bike, yet good in traffic.  No changes required.  :)

Kudos to the engineering involved, and the people who ride them, but I personally don't need any more power than this.

If the standard Bazooka was a performance upgrade I still wouldn't have it on mine purely based on looks!
I don't really do performance upgrades but do like to improve the look 👍

Light weight Delkevic can did the trick.

My 14 is totally stock except for cosmetics which probably slow it down. And I still can't ride it full bore. How much horsepower can you use on a road circuit especially the twisties I ride on.

Need? What has "need" got to do with motorcycles ?    :whistling:

I'd love a go on that, never had a turbo bike, but would love to turbo mine. Highly unlikely to happen in reality, and she does exactly what she's meant to do all day everyday. Probably better to concentrate on riding better than going faster.. speed is so damn invigorating though..

You are quite right. I should have said "want".  ;)

Need for motorcycles.

Our "wants" become "needs" when grovelling for cash to do 'safety' upgrades to the bike. Like Wilburs shocks for example, They make the bike handle so much better which makes it safer, you want me to be safe don't you?  and such like.

And turbo is a great accessory for safer overtakings.. Everything can be explained, turbos, cams, shocs, exhaust systems and so on..

I think my other half uses the same kind of logic. "Now I've got that nice dress, be a shame not to get a bag to go with it..."

Care Col, the boss lady might suggest an extra 2 wheels......

No, I'm good there.  I've explained what & how it happened & she's seen video of going up the hill & the 'rescue' of the bike, but not the actual crash as I didn't have the camera running at that stage.
She's even said, you have to live & enjoy what you're doing & you enjoy your bike & riding. She said it's no good not doing things in case you get hurt, if you want to do it, then do it.
BTW, she's not trying to knock me off either, she definately wants me around, but realises, understands & affirms I have to live my life, not waste it being cosseted up incase I hurt myself.

Besides, I've got the 4 wheel quads remember - they're real safe!
