I've just had a PUIG screen delivered for my 1400.
Looks nice and decent quality BUT......
On the advert, which is in Polish....a language I don't speak, there is a nice picture showing the dimensions as 405mm wide and 430mm high. When I opened the box it looked small and actually measured up at 280mm wide and 320 high. Digging into the advert itself it does say 280 x 320 in the Polish bit so a bit confusing having 2 different dimensions on display.
I can send it back but before I do I just thought I would ask if anyone is using one of these small screens and how effective are they at deflecting the wind.
I think it all comes down to personal choice, how tall you are and how adjustable they are Ian! On some screens (and I never had the Puig so can't comment) behind where they clip in-between the headlight and headlight clamp is a small bolt on a sliding slot, so you can angle the screen (without it tipping back when you ride). If you can get the angle right such that the wind is deflected towards the top of your helmet, there is some reduction in buffeting, but not a major amount of difference.
Realistically at the end of the day, if you like the look of one fitted then fit it, but will it do much if anything to reduce wind buffeting - no (or if it does, nothing substantial).
So, fitted the screen. Looks okay in my opinion. It does take a bit of wind off the chest area but still wouldn't want to go too fast on it. It just seems a touch more comfortable up to my enjoyable speed of about 100 kph. I did briefly try it up to 130 kph and it also seems better but that's to quick for me....at least for the time being.
Got to say I'm really enjoying this bike, should have bought one years ago!
Pleased you are enjoying it. Great bikes.
Very interested in what it looks like there IanH.
Show us a picture thanks if possible.
I have a small screen that is 300mm wide, and 200mm from the top of the light up. Looks like a small Puig or something. It works (I suppose) but would like to hear of other experiences.
I do feel the wind on the chest and head but something is better than nothing as at my age it can get exhausting over time.
