Here's one for the tech gurus - I've read various posts and am more confused !
Bear with me on this one as I'm not a mechanic - i'll put it my way and hopefully someone can decipher what I'm trying to ask -
Yesterday when travelling through traffic at a steady pace then when there was a chance to overtake either roll on the power or drop a cog and instead of brrraaaapppp I got a more brrracoughbrrrrraaaaaap ! Clear road and it powered through the full rev band in every gear no problem ??
Misfire ? Fuel starvation? Some sensor ?
It's a k4 - ( B&W the fast one ! )
Check your throttle cable adjustment, also run a couple of tankfuls of premium fuel (BP Ultimate / Shell Optimax) through it, as you may have some dirty in the fuel system somewhere possibly.
I suspect though it could be throttle cables needing adjustment more - tells you how in the handbook
Check and clean filter on fuel pump in tank.
Yup Teabag!
Many thanks gentlemen - I'm going the belt , braces and ziptie route - the tank is off lying on its back with the fuel pump out - my local bike place has ordered me a filter and o ring kit for the pump - I'm going to dump the couple of litres of fuel that's in the tank and on reassembly it'll be a refill of the good juicy petrol and will also do the throttle cables. On second thoughts it might be worth doing the cables with the tank off in case I have to adjust at the throttle bodies end !
I'll report back once I'm back up and running
Clean the clutch & sidestand switches too.
Mine does that when those are dirty.
