Guys - instead of creating a list re ideas for (Not MCR 2018) within a thread on this years bash.. i shout we start a new..
lets work together on creating our even for next year.
Remember - not interested in slagging off ideas, this is for putting them forward and everyone joining in. Here is my Idea (and its the best.. honest.. it is)
Top Fuel Weekend at Santa Pod? http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_main.php
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzQFyxFkXsY
CRAZY weekend. loudest cars on the planet. Bank Hol weekend event so you don't have to go back to work Monday. brilliant entertainment, all day something is on. Camping on site. bars, music and food. its all there!! very fairly priced too. We just rock up, take over a portion of the cavernous field and do our thing and enjoy whats already there. just needs us!
Those that have never heard a Top Fuel 9000bhp car do 0-300 in 5 seconds - you aint lived

lots moan that nothing is organised or happens and here's your forum, your chance to add value
what man can turn down the option of a good laugh, a few beers and a weekend away with like-minded people!
I haven't been able to ride for the last three months or so,but once things are back to normal I reckon santa pod would be a good venue.im hoping to be fit for the European finals later this year.like you say stolid if you haven't witnessed the cars and bikes at that level then you ain't seen nothing yet.
i quite like the idea of a get together that's for the bikes not a rally but a get together with our bikes.
if thats tagged on to something else great as much less to organise but i do think it needs to move about like the old mcr did as it will become stale rather than a go to event other wise .
that's my 10p worth .

indeed.. - ive started the post so that ideas are chucked in too.. so if there are any events or bashes nearer for you then post up. we could possibly do al alternative one each year !! so its fair on everyone on the condition that you don't just go to your nearest one.. then everyone makes an effort!!
so, have a look and let us know whats up your way?
My reasons for suggesting Santa Pod is that everything we need will be on site. convenient. there is something brilliant on all weekend so entertainment. bands on at night, food on too and Bars. Lots of other people get there too. And its a 4 day Bank Hol weekend!!
everywhere is far for me but i still go when ever i can.
i was a bit upset at the last mcr when most turned up in car's /van's /campers and caravan's.
a good party and great folks but its far from being about the bikes anymore.
i agree about having a place to wash/shower and more than 1 overnight toilet.

indeed. hence the idea and pushing for Ideas on a get together all will be happy with and as many can attend. if we start now more will be able to arrange time etc. its when it gets to 2 weeks before and everyone is booked or doing something else.
Tons of 1400 guys n gals all in a big area having a hoot
sounds good
ok not our own rally means no organisation just letting folk know then turn up .
first thing to sort would be a date as things get very busy in the summers thesedays .
if in school holidays its more of a problem for folk getting away and scottish schools and rest of UK have very different holidays .
we have no kids so its not a problem but might be for others.
i would say july/august /september with plenty of notice.

More of yes its our own Rally but.. the added bonus of it being at a place where all we need is already there. Its just tagging our meet onto something else and using those facilities. MCR i went to was OK bit nowt to do during the day.. rideout yes... but unless you started drinking at 10am there wasn't anything around you to actually see/do/go.
So for example - Top Fuel Day Santa Pod there is a whole weekend of stuff already on. we just use it for a meet. we all tent-up in the same place, meet up, do whatever but at least there is a full calendar of stuff cracking on. from rides in a Monster truck, funfair, Top Fuel Bikes and Cars, Jet Car!!! Bars, food, bands... it just makes perfect sense (to me) to use whats out there already. its the people who get there that's important
sounds a plan
I'm in guess need others to comment and get more opinions
I haven't been to a mcr yet but would be very interested in the santa pod meet up
Never seen the top fuels but would love to so combined with a gsx gathering would be perfect for me.
I reckon that's a brilliant idea Stoli! I can't go, but can see the merit in what you're proposing for sure. :onya:

Have a look at the 2 web links in 1st post.
Or YouTube Santa Pod top fuel.
If you've never experienced it.... you'll be shocked. The noise tattles your lungs. And as for the Jet Car ...
it's MAD.
What about a GSX1400 meet during Donington / bulldog bash / Elvington?
All the facilities are there :whistling:
Just noticed idea's in that line are already suggested :frustrated:

Nah.... Comment first, read later... Kinda action
Great idea Santa Pod - been there before years ago with the old org when the jet car was running and one could take one's 14 down the strip for a mere pittance......
So if this Pod event is to take off, I would suggest we need someone to co-ordinate it, in terms of getting names together, understanding costs, timings, meetup points, assessing an area where we can all pitch our tents together (or where we can all congregate etc - else it won't happen / could turn out messy.
Just out of interest Stoli, what dates is this event running - if I look at the Events calendar, can't see anything there for the August Bank Holiday weekend?
Not too sure dates have been set for 2018 as yet but. It looks like it's the 4 day weekend every year so should be easily lookable on internet. Can't look while typing !!
There is a mahoosive camp site area. We'd just take over a part.
Re costs. I can look up this years weekend or day options. I know I took my boy for the sat and it was £25. They do good rates for weekenders tho.
I'll look up more tomorrow and add
Having a quick look on this and as Easter seems to be much earlier next year (I'm pretty sure they put this on Easter break as its a 4 day event), For the Big Dat at Santa Pod its looking like 30th March to 2nd April - My initial thoughts are that it might well be a tad chilly then.
Anyway - re camping, it looks like Camping is included in Multi Day Tickets
So, looking at an impromptu 2017 meeting as a test....
Flame & Thunder http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_flame.php Sat 28th October is £35 for the weekend and includes Camping. Have a look at the link as there is a PACKED day and night. Anyone heard or seen a Jet Car? i have and its simply potty..
I had a look, that's an awesome amount of entertainment for the price!! Lots of bars & food stalls too, bugger!

mhhhh, not totally convinced  maybe you aren't selling it right
I have just been checking the videos on youtube for the previous editions of the dragon rally.
Count me out, that's not how i want to visit the UK.. although summers can look exactly the same :rofl2:
Some things to consider -
Not everyone likes or has the equipment for camping or the luggage to carry the camping gear.
If you try to piggy back an existing event -
a) might not be able to get day visitors in
b) may not be able to all camp in the same area
c) bikers paying to watch drag cars? perhaps a bike rally type event would be much more acceptable
Other bike "Gangs" may be present at some rallies and they hate or like to incorporate other "Gangs".
The Victoria Bikers Pub in Coalville, Leicestershire might be worth considering. Hotels nearby for example as well as a town centre. Good central position close to M1 and M42. I live near there it would not be my favourite place for anything but just throwing an idea in there.

There are digs nearby and hotels - i stayed in one this year when i took my boy. Santa Pod has dozens of bash's on and so there is a good supply of B&Bs and hotels around
Entry fee means you get in. when i went in the car with my son it was £25 each for the day. as stated multiple day tickets include camping
The fields & Camping area at Santa Pod is HUGE. h
Bikers and drag cars - i don't know many bikers that aren't petrol heads by default! its an utterly incredible spectacle.
as for gangs... i really don't think this is something that's even to be brought up. I'm not in a gang, don't see the GSX/Org as a gang and i doubt anyone else will. its just lots of people who like motorsport or a good day out all together having a laugh. I'm nearly 50 and all that "I'm going to hit you because you've got a different bike" is something ive never experienced
I was at Santa Pod when Sonny Barger was there along with hundreds of Angels... not one instance of a stare or grief of uncomfortable..
sorry but i feel comments are a tad OTT

Went there for a day rally with the old GSX1400.ORG some years back. Terrible place. They knew we were coming and had insufficient food. Poor facilities and service. Just a car park to park in. Would never ever visit that place again. God knows why people rate it, it's certainly not worth travelling for.

OK so i guess i should appologise, i figured seeing as the Dragon is europes second oldest biking event next to the Elephant i assumed everyone would know what it is.
I have been to many since, but this is one of my favourite one. I think my bike or me feature in this vid about 3 times.. If you dont watch it all, at least jump to 3:17.. its hilarious and that wasnt the deepest someone went..

Its not always that muddy, thats just one year and one of the best in my opinion.. And if you look at the vid i linked, there is barely a crosser in sight.. In fact mostly classics.
what about meeting at storming the castle .
Matlock is a great place to ride, loads of camp sites in and around and every Sunday is bike day!
Loads of attractions including cable cars,Castle, Bakewell tarts etc.
You could tie it in with an event at Donnigton which is only 30mins away!

I can only confirm that the Peak district is a nice area to drive around by bike.
Did that in 2009.
What i also remember is that Matlock can be very crowded on sundays with a lot of enforcers.
Matlock is nice - not sure whats there to do or a weekend things happen so we can join in?? anyone have any info
For me, i'd like to push for Santa Pod Top Fuel weekend next year. Lots to do, lots to see, ready-made event and stacks of camping/B&Bs etc...
we could give it a try and if its not for everyone then whats to loose apart from getting a hang-over!! (and a headache from the Top Fuel cars)
ive been twice in the last 15 years and had a hoot both times. you can never prepare for the sound and smells... its just crazy and ANYONE who likes a bit of Suck Squeeze Bang Blow will be in their element

It might be just me, but surely going to a car event to celebrate a bike seems odd.. I mean sure, arrange it for like minded people as a seperate event but for the anual club meet seems wrong. I for one wouldnt be interested, i mean its.... cars..
If you want to tag on to another event for the annual meet then choose a bike event.

Please have a look at the link i added with info on the event. its bikes, of all kinds, top fuel bikes, cars.. its the main event of the year. plus you can walk right round the paddock and stand next to these things and get involved..

100% not just cars. Think of the pluses - great event, food, camping, loos, bars, music.. its all there
meeting at a pub somewhere just limits what you can do - why not make a weekend of it
So then. A drag strip, camping, bikes, bands, stuff to do right there - its seems obvious now I have thought of it - The Bulldog Bash 2018

so weve 3 maybe events we can look at! Bulldog, Santa Pod, Matlock.. i wouldn't mind doing a different event each year! mix it up a bit

Long Marston Airfield is being developed. Businesses have been told to vacate by November this year. They're hoping to create 3,500 houses on the site (400 approved so far). If the Bash is going to happen in 2018, it may have to relocate.

Seems we can forget the Bulldog Bash then. Always meant to go again but never got around to it and can't go this year so its finished I reckon.
hi guys, there is a pub near me, its known as the MFN, or middle of feking nowhere.
its a pub set in 8 acres close to the M1 A 38, has regular car/bike nights.
its run by an ex shawaddy waddy member, lol maybee only us old uns will know who shawaddy waddy was. has regular weekend events with camping, live bands foods etc.
20 mins to matlock bath and the peak district.
have a look at their website
www.mfn-club.co.uk
Looks cool, beers too !!!
mind you "shawaddy waddy was" is a bit of a gob-full !! try sayinn that after a skinfull !!
it was called something else in the 80/early 90's but used to go there lots before i moved to Scotland.
they have themed weekends so might be worth asking about them hosting a gsx1400 weekend next summer
Before asking the site it would be worth logging this as a new post maybe and asking for a heads up on who would make it.
As this has died a bit of a death there is little point asking the site and sorting and only a couple attend.
it does seem however that there isn't a deal of interest in an annual bash, which is a shame as there will be beer and food
what else does a dude need

Indeed Barmy
From what I can see there are 4 or 5 gsx Facebook sites.
I could post on them directing to the org as the one place to show interest as otherwise it'll just get very confusing going here to there n back.
Personally I'd prefer somewhere like my suggested Santa Pod for top fuel As all amenities there plus entertainment Day and night. It's everyt all rolled up so just need to turn up but not much interest really
Still owe you breakfast by the way....

Santa Pod sounds a good choice to me - but then I'll go with the flow as to what others want.
And haven't forgotten brekkie, I'm away at present, but we should get together soon.

we could just sort it for next year and who turns up.. turns up. Its an amazing spectacle and 2 days of fun and LOUD stuff.
have a great time away - give me a shout when back and ill sort the brekkie
As far as MFN is concerned from what I've heard it would be worth contacting them and enquiring as to the cost and what you get for your money.
i like the idea of a meet at MFN or somewhere like that
i wouldn't be interested on anything at santa pod not my thing and all tho i live in northeast scotland im also happy to travel to middle of england but stratford for 2 nights not for me.

another place is squires milk bar in sherburn in elmet.they have camping etc.
http://www.squires-cafe.co.uk/
i was at squires this summer on the way to the last mcr run by the folk from the old org .
it was my first time but looked great and food was excellent. the campsite looked good to tho not sure if we could book a large gtoup in as only 40 pitches.
i think the mcr had been held there before and had problems but i wasn't at those ones so don't know the full story of it.
