Dropped the bike in the garage  :embarrassed: - fell off side stand against my push bike and the wall - bar end damaged and dent in tank  :bugga: - insurance? £350 excess - any new tanks still available? repair? Bugger guess it was always going to happen one day thats why it has engine bars ....it sure was heavy picking it up ...

Bugger!
Think Lawrie has a new tank sitting in the rafters of his shed, maybe give him a pm?  It's a B/W too.

such bad luck mate. would really piss me off. we fell over on australia day, my stupidity, no damage except wifes leg. another time nearly over, i put myself under bike. how i lifted it it back up , both times, beyond me. was nearly upside down first time, adrenalin i guess. all i can remember thru my stupidity rage was get it back up. then felt so bad until wifes leg healed. she was really good about it, amazing woman. she loves 14 as much as me, if i mention selling it, she asks whats next bike, no answer. hope you can fix dent, or buy cover.

Notty - gutted for you.

I'd either get a tank cover. Loads on eBay. Just over £100. Or get it repaired wintertime. To save taking your 14 off the road now. A repair has got to be cheaper than going down the insurance route.

This is no problem to repair it. In my country up to 100-120 GPB with new paint and stickers.

It been like it for a few years.
Only thing that annoys me is something (maybe fuel gauge related) sometimes "Clunks" against the inside. I might have lost .5ltr capacity, maybe. I wouldn't mind a new or at least straight tank but its not a priority.

Let me start by saying, that I am in Hong Kong for work & just back from a big business meeting/ drinking session  so.
Tony, how the hell you could leave that like that for years is beyond me. I dropped mine, and had a slight ding in the tank, that no one else would probably notice, but drove me mad, every time I looked at my bike or went for a ride, it pissed me off.
But this is my pride & joy, and only bike I own, so maybe more attached than you or some other's.

If it had been my Busa, B-King or ET it would have been fixed long ago.
My 14 was a very cheap project, crashed by the last owner. Its well down my list of priorities.
If I'd spent proper money on a nice bike I'm sure that I'd feel differently about it.

I damaged my tank last year on some ice, it's just gone in for repainting k4 B&W I was getting quotes of 5-600 for the tank repairing and repainting so I'm going for a slightly different colour option,  painter said it's all the different pearl colours that make it so expensive.

The one thing you may want to check with Ace is whether they use transfers on the tank or not. Dream Machine don't use them but air brush them instead I believe (but do check)

If either need a set of tank transfers I have a set of K7 tank transfers you can have - that's if you want yours to look like a K7 of course!

Any thoughts on maybe having the side panels sprayed to match the tank?  :whistling:

got a quote from Froudy's mate Ace in Bristol for a repair and respray my tank in K2 style ( but K5 blue ! ) for £250 which is a good price and only an hours drive from Cardiff , will take Mrs Notty so I don't pay for the bridge with her blue badge but then I guess the cost of a shopping visit to Bristol many cost more than the tank !  :smile2:

Bit of a dig up. But my Katana has a sharp single dent in the side of the tank and it does my head in. I was going to use one of those paintless dent removal companies that do the rounds. They will put one of their formers inside the tank through the filler and hammer it out slowly with their special tools. Should be easy to do. Will need paint of course as yours is split. Did you get it sorted??
