Not too keen on the exhaust :embarrassed:

It would appear the dealer has built in plenty of 'wiggle room' in that price!
Lets hope they sell it for that amount, re-values the rest of the fleet upwards
Thats taking the piss !!! if it was B/W fair enuf :smile2:
Took mine in to get MOT'd a couple of days ago at Saltire Suzuki. (Passed by the way)
Was speaking to the Calum the boss. Telling him I was retired.
"Well there's your pension pot right there" he said.
It seems that GSX1400s are sought after.
So, all those folk saying "Your havin' a larf" better think again.
thats more than new price
get real these are great bikes but how much .
a couple more years i can sell our 3 and retire.
:stir:
When i bought my 14 there were quite a few to choose from. Like more than a dozen.
3 years on and there are just 2 and one sidecar. Still worth good coin here.
A few things spring to mind....
# That's a very nice bike.
# That's asking price, not a sold price!
# The Renthal bar cover must have been fitted by a drunk!
# Who the f*ck thought that exhaust was a good idea?
# That's way more than I paid for my GSX1400 and Bandit 1200 and GSX1100ET combined !!!
exhaust is a shocker. keep your 14 nice, one day prices will go up. not holding my breath.
I'd rather ride mine & get my moneys worth & enjoyment from it. If you want an investment get a shares portfolio, but that won't entertain you on the twisties.
Rather put as many miles on mine as possible.
The more miles, the more smiles!
Whatever's left at the end I'll restore, fix up or weigh in as scrap.
I have bikes that are more collectable than a GSX14 but they are for riding and having fun on.
If they get a hard life, see some rain, visit the drags or get some battle scars so be it.
Beautiful clean low mileage bikes are nice to buy but not something I'd be proud of owning.
Gotta say that's the pleasure of owning and riding bikes.
Sit down and talk bikes with like minded people. We never discuss just the aesthetics BUT how do they handle, how do they sit on the road, the quirky details that make the ride different to the next. Things like that.
The 1400 will never pay for my retirement but complement my retirement.
I'm loving it.
GSX14's are good looking bikes out of the box.
If you own a Hayabusa or B-King then aesthetics do get mentioned, normally along with Ugly, FTW, I DONT LIKE, you bought that! and bloody hell thats bad... LOL.
My normally reply is "Tyson and Ali didn't win beauty contests"
I saw this one at Mt.Mee recently with 8,000km's in mint condition guy had paid a claimed $8000 Aus for it. All he changed was the little skinny carbon mufflers for the standard bazookas. Mine will be 16yo this year with 129,000 km's on it so worth fuck all $'s to anyone other than me. Reckon I have had my moneys worth 2 times over LMAO. :rofl3:

That bike did not cost that when new. The modifications add nothing to the price though it does look nice.
Fact is though that it is worth what someone is prepared to pay.
I called into a Suzy dealer in Edinburgh, summer 2011, with a group on tour as one of them needed a new tyre. Whilst waiting they made me an on the spot offer for the 14 as they had customers waiting.
Sure they are not going to depreciate much nowadays and I guess that one is close to being "New" in terms of condition. I prefer Red and Black but I do see that if this was a Blue and White it would be worth more/see faster than a Black.
my opinion only. some bikes just look nice, appeal thru time. cb750, z1 kawas, 900ss duke bevel. many more. prices evaluate by rarity, exclusiveness, but quite a few by just being a good looking machine. many later models are much better, people only see the look they like. i fit 14 into the good looking category as well as being a good bike.i look at old cb750 and think just how nice. when we had them as kids, never thought or realised they looked good. 14 will be a classic in lots of years time. its an elle macpherson for sure.
First time I saw a 14 in the flesh so to say. Sheltering from the rain in Carnells Grimsby. I knew one day I'd get one. One word. Presence. With a capital 'P'.
Funny thing about 14's - virtually no two are identical. Some, I'll be honest (don't shoot me down) go too far with the accessory catalogue. Nice tasteful/subtle/practical mods are what I like and appreciate.
Couple on UK eBay north of £7K now. :whistling:

I'm slightly the other side to you Basil, I love the look of the stock Black 14..... except for the alloy finish which is only used as its a cheaper alternative for the mass market. This leaves bags of potential to improve (IMO). I look at photo's of mine as stock and I really dont like it compared to where I am now.
The real plus is the 14 is easy and relatively cheap to customise to your own tastes. There are some fantastic creations out there which IMO add to the desireability of the bike. I dont think the forum would exist if we were all looking at stock bikes.
Dont get me started on the Bazooka!!! :furious:
