just saw screens for sale and wanted. what do you blokes think about them on 14. i have a american f1 brand, used it for maybe 5th ks. i could never see any advantage. just the opposite really, couldnt clean instruments and marked top of headlight, even thru tape. never found it any better for wind deflection and very bad in side winds, moved bike around. been naked now for a long time, yes i know, i must be cold. :smile2: any thoughts you blokes. maybe i just have wrong screen for the job.
Just for looks.
Mine is still on to hide some scars on the headlight trim + bowl.
i am considering getting one of those fancy bolt-on air deflector to try and minimize the turbulence.
Shortly after buying my 14 which was over 11 years ago, I found I needed a screen of some sort to allow comfortable long distance high speed cruising. I reckon I was lucky as the Givi one I got has proved excellent.
Screens are for girls :whistling:

... to keep them flies off them
No doubt Timothy, for "long distance high speed cruising" a good screen is worth it. Your Givi looks like the one Seth has. According to him it is out of production. Does anyone know the model name/number? I have a puig srceen. Took it off right after I got the bike because I don't like the looks and I am unlikely to do any more of the long distance high speed thing. Also like the air in my face at lower speeds. Never say never though. Want to keep my eyes out for a used one just in case. Would come off right after the trip though
Yes the Givi screen on mine is out of production but they have recently introduced one which looks very similar.
I would look at the MRA ones too

Screens are for sensible long distance riders, who may also be girls, and not for those that think riding a large engine bike makes them a man - just like clothes it takes a lot more.

Please explain why long distance riders "may also be girls" if they have screens? It's one of the best things you can fit when driving long distance - until you've had one you don't realise it. Whilst I didn't have a touring screen on my 14, the electric touring screen on my Triumph Explorer is a superb addition to comfort and fatigue when driving long distance especially in wet weather.
I don't think Tim is saying you're a girl if you have a screen Dave. Tim has a screen, & says it's excellent,

The "girls" bit came from mjgt - 'bit tongue in cheek' though. Just banter - all good.
my girl has a 14 and it has a screen she has also done 50000 miles on it all over europe from denmark to italy and everywhere in between except france(I'm not keen on the french) :stir:
