Title: Mod standard exhausts
Post by: beekay on Thursday, 15 June 2017, 07:31 AM
Hi Folks,

I love the look of the K2 with the standard twin exhausts, however, it's a bit "quiet". I tried contacting Creptus exhausts in CZ regarding the original lookalike cans they sell, but no response, V.i.c.i also advised this outfit never answer any mails and are dead slow with manufacture/delivery. So, I've decided to take a leaf out of the X GAY R mob book and see if I can modify the standard cans. I've ordered a scrap K2 can from ebay and will attack with a cutting disc to see the baffle set up and if it is similar to XJR cans. If so, bingo, I can fab up new end plates and bigger bore outlet to match and keep the looks but with a more "lively" sound. Will post write up and pics if successful.

Cheers

beekay.

Moonie did this mod to the standard exhausts, from memory I think he drilled out the rivets in the end of the can to help get it off, removed "stuff" from inside and then put it back together. You'd have to pm him to see what he did,

Try this e-mail: soundveredler@web.de
His name is Winfried, I believe he sits in the Netherlands. He makes changes to the originals and lots of people like it.  He also sells a kit with the inserts he fabricates. He has not answered e-mails this February and March, but I would try. Assume he speaks english.

You can see pics of the inserts as well as how someone made the changes with the kit http://www.gsx-1400-forum.de/showthread.php?t=1162&highlight=soundveredler

In this thread you can see the inside of the K3 can: http://www.gsx-1400-forum.de/showthread.php?t=3488&highlight=auspuffinnenleben

You will need to register to www.gsx-1400-forum.de to see the threads. It is in german. Google translator will help.

You can also look my opened standard exhaust cans from Exhaust / Who has what  topic.
They are totally opened cans with 2" absorption tubes.
Original cans are not easy to open.
My opinion is that they are too loud with naturally aspirated engine, but OK with turbo ( measured by MOT, street legal)

Your welcome beekay. Thanks for joining there. They have a lot of pic sequences there for how to do things. If google translator fails you, like searching for something specific, I'll be happy to assist you. It was nice of you to introduce yourself there. Who knows, some day you might meet some of the people if you come to Germany again. They do have a big annual anniversary meet every year. Next one is 03.-06.August.
