Title: Hanging up the boots
Post by: RossP on Sunday, 11 June 2017, 09:52 AM
I must say that the new forum looks great, great effort to whom ever is responsible.

I haven't done much (nothing) with my bike for 18 months now and due to medical reasons I will not be using it in the future, 5 knee operations have seen to that.

I live in Port Lincoln and the bike is in Adelaide on a battery tender.

I have started it a few times when I was in Adelaide but that's about it.

I never bought the bike over here simply the country here is flat, straight and boring.

I stayed positive regarding riding and even put Michelin PR4 tyres on it, managed maybe 300 mom's on them.

Just far too uncomfortable now and I can't concentrate enough with pain, and not being focused on a bike is dangerous.

I do miss riding as it has been a part of my life for 60 years now, but I just don't feel confident any more.

Time to sell my 14, sad.

Hi RossP, sad news indeed. Guess it's going to come to us all in the end.
You still get out & about on your boat?  Still doing some fishing?

It was Mike (Vladtepes) who set this site up initially, Barmy came onboard & he'd managed to save a lot of the tech stuff from the old org, so that info is still avail to us.

It's a very nice place to hang out. More modern & with admin on both sides of the globe, always someone around to assist if required.

Don't be a stranger Ross, you're part of the fraternity & always had good advice for those that wanted it. Lot of experience there & be a shame if it was to disappear.

Stay well mate & tight lines!

Yes, do quite a bit of fishing, learnt all the local secrets.

From boat launch to snapper fishing = 15 mins.

From boat launch to King George whiting fishing = 10 mins.

Biggest whiting = 45 cm, what a thumper but a fish that size is good breeding stock so it went back in.

Average size here is 42cm.

Biggest snapper caught by me was 14.7kg but the biggest caught on my boat was 18.4 kg, my friends 13 yo son caught it.

Sorry to hear Ross, as you say guess it comes to all of us eventually, can understand with 5 knee ops why you are having to call it a day though. As others have said though, do look in from time to time
