Title: Panniers!!!!
Post by: Gavla on Saturday, 03 June 2017, 07:30 PM
Hi all,

New to the forum, first post and all that.

I am trying in vain to find a pannier rack for my gsx14.

I have found one set on ebay but I've never heard of them and can't find the panniers.

Does anyone know where I might find a pannier rack kit?

The top box I can find loads, givi monokey's are all over the place but I just can't find the panniers.

Went away with throwovers last month and my mrs hated it.

1400 miles in four days sat on them took their toll somewhat haha.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers guys.

 :welcome1:

hello and welcome
givi racks
there are 2 one for upto and including k4
one for the k5 onwards
earlier ones are discontinued and very hard to get thesedays I'm not sure if the later ones are still available.
the side/pannier rack fits both racks but again rocking horse poo easier to get.
if any are available probably here or the facebook page is best place to look but ebay in rest of europe is also a good place to search.
if your only needing a light luggage rack then the 1200 bandit ones from rentec also fit the 14

Both pannier racks have now been discontinued by Givi, so your "only" chance is any you might spot on eBay. But as Seth says, they are starting to get quite rare these days. Krauser also did panniers for the 14, but you'd have to use their panniers as well.

Hi all,

Thanks for a warm welcome, I've become so tired of how rare it all is. Seems like everyone is of the same opinion.

I've sent you a message Saggy0000.

Thanks guys,

Tip - the Givi racks for the twin exhaust version were all I could get new from Givi about 6 years ago now. Suggests they either never made one for the single pipe or at least have not done so for a long time.
I bought the twin exhaust version for my single piper. Hoped to find a used left passenger footrest hanger as they use that for a mount. No chance and new ones seemed a rip off so decided to make something. Just needed a simple aluminium bracket to link up to a bolt to be able to fit and it worked great. Sold the racks on ebay to a guy with a single piper and explained and photographed the home made bracket and pointed out that it was at his risk. He contacted me and congratulated me on the design and said he was very happy with it.

Good luck with the search - they will be out there somewhere.

Welcome Gavla

Not sure what your budget is but I fitted a set of Shad side cases and a frame for last year's trip to Croatia.

They were bought from here: https://www.ajsutton.co.uk/product/shad/D0B43100/sh43-white-side-case--pannier-requires-model-specific-side-master-fitting-kit-?uid=0

They might be worth a call to see if they are still available but be aware that the frame, side cases, inner bags and coloured top panels are all purchased separately, I think my set cost the wrong side of £400.00.

Shame really because I've only used them once and now I have bought the GTR they may never get used again. I'll see how it goes and maybe sell them on next year.

The GSX1400 at the front has the single pipe Givi pannier set up. If all else fails he may be interested in selling them. May cost a bit sending them to the UK.

I was just looking for throttle cables on ebay & found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GSX-1400-left-hand-rear-footpeg-exhaust-mount-/162668679494?hash=item25dfcf1146:g:zb0AAOSwx6FZtXfj

A left hand K2-K4 pillon peg hanger, it's normally easier to find rocking horse droppings. So in I've posted it up in case anyone is looking for one.

Both pannier rail types are now discontinued by Givi.

I have PLX527 (IIRC) rails which mount the V35 side cases.

Unfortunately no pics of the rails without the cases but they fit quite close to the bike.

Hi,

I sent you a PM a while back. If you can give me an idea of the size and weight of the whole lot I can get quotes from a courier to collect it.

I've done this before for bike parts, sometimes it works out reasonable if there's a van going that way.

Hi. I pondered and researched this for a whole season before a tour of France. My recommendation would be a pannier rail system from SW Motech. It has a quick release system so the GIVI rack mount and side rails detach with 1/4 turn catches and returns the bike back to its naked look. The box is mounted on an aluminium plate (GPT.05.299.15000/B).

The GIVI PLX system needs to have a bar fitted between the side rails through the holes left from relocating the indicators and the indicators stick out too far for my liking.

More detailed photos of my SW Motech set up available on request.

Hope this is of some help
