Title: New to SKY TV
Post by: Kiwifruit on Thursday, 01 June 2017, 07:03 AM
Wifey wanted to get Sky TV to watch the America's Cup yachting. We have resisted getting it before as its quite expensive. She has been looking forward to the yachting for some time and was not happy when we found out it was not being broadcast on free to air.
So the Sky installer comes round and in no time we have more channels of junk and a few sport and the odd interesting one.
UNTILL...... i see in the guide for June, an interesting event called the IOM TT....i flick through the pages trying not to rip them only to find every race covered, along with replays at a more sensible hour.  I can see i will enjoy the yachting
  :boogie:
To be fair i like the boats they are using, they just look awesome flying along on their foils. I used to do some windsurfing and enjoyed the amazing sensation of speed and the power of the wind.
Havnt told the bride about Moto GP or the vast array of motorsport available !!
Guess I will be able to watch the British and Irish Lions rugby tour matches too !!

I was thinking that was quite dear Notty, then realised I pay about $170 a month (about 85 pound I guess) for home land line, caller ID, Digital TV with recorder, Sky basic & Sky Sport & unlimited ultrafast (200-300mps) broadband. So I'm actually paying more, but get a decent package deal.   Expensive this digital info stuff.

I ditched Foxtel as I didn't watch it enough to justify the cost. As they have recently upgraded our internet connection (NBN) we have joined STAN and stream things now. I also bought a video subscription for MotoGP with the intent of upgrading to a new television with Internet available to stream directly onto the big screen.

My step-son did well at school and now is working hard at Uni.  One of my wife's little "rewards" for his effort is to pay for the Fox Sports TV package for him to watch basket ball. He's SERIOUSLY into in,  did a school trip to play against school teams on the US West Coast and has been back with his mate a 2nd time, planning a (3month!) 3rd trip right now to do part of his Uni degree there. The US is the place for this.

The spin off of this is.... when the Wife payed for the channels to get basketball, I got all the drag racing, MotoGP practice / Qualifying / Races, AU super bikes etc etc etc...

 :onya:
