Hi!
i 1550 bigbore converted my bike for almost 4 years ago and had have big problems to start it when cold, the starter spinns you got fuel but you dont get any spark.
I think that the the difference in starting current compared to a stock 1400 is quite big 135Amps standard compared to 1550cc 175 Amps  is the issue.
Then you get a voltage drop as a result of all that power increase.
I have tryed to cure this by making the lowbeam dont lid up before the oilpressure is up and even wired a cable that goes direct to the coils (positive side) from the
battery with a relay controlled with the starter button, even got a battery with more omp  no luck .
As son as you connect a car battery with jump start cables it starts directly, but now i probably found the solution :onya:.
Quite a simpel solution  i just got bigger cables from the battery to the starter relay and from there to the starter even changed the negative wire and moved it to
one of the mounting bolts to the starter (if you look at the pic you can see where i mounted the grounding wire) (https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/16/32/83/13%3Cbr%20/%3E%3Cbr%20/%3E/_dsc8310.jpg)
and i got up from from 10mm² to 25mm² in cable area.

You see the difference betveen the stock cables and the short wire i got left.
And now it starts every time :worshippy: :worshippy:.
Cheers Maveric
This is quite a common solution on the Triumph Tiger 1050 forum as they have very thin battery leads, newer bikes have thicker cables. I suspect your old wires were starting to corrode raising their resistance. Good fix :onya:
Thanks for the heads up.
