Hi guys, my side panels need painting as me boots have worn through the paint in a couple of places, anyone have the colour code?
There is no paint code as the side panels are moulded items.
Many though in the past, have repainted their side panels using Ford Panther Black, has a very slight fleck in it, plus gives a gloss finish - so making them look like the early K2 panels (my personal choice I must admit)
But if yours are the new silk/matt finish - sorry can't help with a colour match.
Cheers barmy, mines a k5, its like a gunmetal.
I know exactly what colour you mean Rizla. Unfortunately I don'y know (and have never seen) a colour match for the later side panels, only way is maybe get another off of eBay or choose to spray in a different colour.
K3 onwards had the "gunmetal" style panels, only the K2 had the shiny black version.
Only other thing you could do is go to a local paint specialists who can match paint to see if they can mix you a colour - often they have a pen they can put on the colour which works it out and they can then mix you up something bang on or pretty close. If you can find out where local spray shops get their loose paint from, often their suppliers can "do the trick" for you
Hi Rizla. If you go to an automotive paint supplier they should have a set of colour swatch cards. They are small the colour chip maybe 50x30mm, 6 or 8 of a similar colour to a sheet and all the different sheets pinned together so they fan out. Easy to find the colour you want.
As far as a matt finish goes. You just add a flatting base to the clearcoat. Degree of matt finish is determined by the amount you put in.
Using a photospectrometer will give you a paint code closest to your colour. The ones i have seen do require a fairly flat surface.
Hope thats of some help.
