Title: A Very Sad Day - RIP Brendan Keirle
Post by: Stolichnaya on Monday, 15 May 2017, 08:14 PM
Sadly we lost Bren yesterday to a crash at The Ring, such a sad loss of a truly lovely gentle man and a very, very lovely human being.

Some of you will know Chop on here - Chop and i went on a Bike Tour in 2015 with our wives and part of that Tour was staying at Sliders Guest House as we wanted to ride The Ring.  Bren owned Sliders Guest House and he made us incredibly welcome, we had an evening of beers and tales of Bren's escapades on The Ring and his general Bike-Mad life.  Bren held the record at The Ring for 7 years - a 7min 29 sec lap on his R1 and we saw this Lap with him over beers.  This man had Petrol in his veins.

He gave Chop and i some tips on riding round - not that we were in any near shape he was and simply completing it was enough for us.

My wife didn't want to "spoil" my lap by being on the back of the GSX and Bren jumped straight in and said he'd take her round in his M3 - my wife was completely beside herself with excitement.  We all had "a play" on the way there with Bren in his M3 and me and Chop on our GSX14's.
He went straight out in a road-going M3 and took my wife on a 8min 41 sec lap - stunning.  the best experience she's had and she smiles a broad happy smile when thinking of her time with Bren.
The photo below is of Bren having just done this Lap - Chop and i were still out there i think..  taking 3 or 4 times as long..  it didnt bother us one bit we had a Hoot...

I wanted to just post something up as i feel incredibly sad today.  i learnt of Brens passing late last night and told Chop as i wanted to let him know - Chop knows the great, GREAT time we had with Bren.

after we returned to Sliders Bren just threw us the keys to his little Ford KA as he knew we wanted to go for a meal.  that's the guy he was..  kind, gentle and a gent.

Some of you may know Bren as another name - The Baron.  in years gone by Bren used to be given all the latest sports bikes by Superbike Mag and others and they gave them to Bren to make them sing..  test ride and see what they would do..  this is how good Bren was on a bike..

i was only talking to him 3 weeks ago and he was so excited to be moving to his house in Spain, from what i hear that move was to happen today so its double sad he never got to achieve the stage in his amazing life.

R I P Bren..  you will be sorely sorely missed

I saw this too Barmy. It appears Bren was trying to warn others of a spill having got out of his car.
I think it's a shot across the bows of The Ring to fit yellow flags.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least he was trying to warn others... he was that kinda guy.

The Sliders website is down (not surprisingly) but I'm trying to find where or when the funeral is as if I can go I would like to pay respects.

I was only talking to Bren a few weeks back. I've met a guy in my village and out of the blue we were talking bikes... mentioned Bren and it turns out he knows him very well. His dad and Bren used to race or prep suff. Small world.

sadly Bren had sold sliders and was due to take up a bike school on Spain at a house he'd hand built. From what I've heard that day was today so he never got to go.

He'd also had a very sad time as his wife had taken her own life some years ago and Bren clearly never got over this.

So, so sad to hear of this lovely man no longer being with us.

Very sad, and a real bloody shame.  Always the good guys?  So often seems to be the case....

Sorry about the loss of your mate, and may he long be remembered !

thank you for reading and posting up guys - Bren had talent in spades..  anyone who can crack a 7 min 30 sec lap on an R1 at The Ring....  doff my cap

i looked back a tad and found this.  This is the video of my wife with Bren in his M3 when he took her round in 8 minutes something...  Chop and i were on track on the GSX14's and this is the Vid i mentioned in my 1st post and the subsequent photo in the carpark after..

If you've 8 minutes to spare..  have a ride... (bear in mind this is a road going UK M3, back seats removed and some sticky tyres on..  other than that it was a normal 2003 M3)
