Hi Im new to this site having just bought a K2 and it is in need of a little tlc to make it perfect so im looking to find a painter who can do a first class job on the tank and also any ideas on where best to source the decals.

Welcome Gary - if you want the best spray job, then Dream Machine is very hard to beat http://www.dream-machine.co.uk/
As with anything quality though - not cheap. But the job is top notch.

decals from suzuki are £120 for the tank ones

Except with Dream Machine you don't need decals - I believe they re-create them using paint, so no decals needed. Damn clever.
Of course what you could do is get your bike repainted in the K2 paint scheme but in a different colour - saw one tank sprayed just like a K2 but in Red and White. Looked gorgeous. Just a thought, as if you are getting spraying done, hey, why not be different!

Just a suggestion to consider,
whilst I know paintwork is very important to the overall pride we feel in our bikes, personally I'd wait a month or two to asses how the bike runs, it's quite possible that you may change your mind on what is most important after that time.
I think most owners who've had the bike over a Year or so would say, getting the suspension professionally set to your weight/style and possibly a pcIII would be their priority. Cosmentics can always wait until Year 2 depending on your budget :onya:

Well thanks for all your kind welcomes and ideas about the painters, seems dream machine may be the way to go having looked at their website do thanks for your help. Regarding suspension as mentioned by someone the guy I bought the bike from said he had dropped the yoke by about 1/8" to sharpen up the turn in but I'm not sure it feels right to me, anyone got any views ??
Can't see that dropping the actual yoke would do anything except muck handling up. Personally I'd return it to as it should be and then see if you prefer it standard or not.
If you mean dropping the forks in the yoke, that really would not do much at all, certainly it wouldn't sharpen handling.

The usual approach to sharpening handling is to use a 55 profile rear tyre or jack up blocks on the rear. Front suspension is best left as is in the structural sense.
You may wish to fiddle with the oil weight and springs etc down the track, but I;d put the forks back to stock to start with.
Thanks for that I have to say it doesn't seem quite right to me and you have to be quite physical with it in slow corners so I think I'll put it back to where it should be does anyone know what the measurement should be between the yoke and the top of the forks ?
The top of the fork tubes should be flush with the top of the yoke - the cap which screws onto the top should slign flush such that only the adjustment nuts protrude above
Thanks for suggesting Dream Machine to paint the tank they have quoted £274 for a complete tank spray in the two colours and they will sort all the decals and they will also paint the front mudguard so quite good I thought as they do seem very professional

cost me £500 for my tank at cupar bike paints (fantastic job on my tank but i bet dream machine will be just as good )
