today all 14 just vanished, gone forever. what would you replace with. personally, i dont have a clue. my bike is gone, choose another. xjr, first spring into head, yamaha mt10, ducati diavel, do i really want to do the high maintenance. triumph bonnie? new kawa z.triumph rocket, chew tyres. what would be your choice gentlemen. your thoughts on a replacement if you had a choice. if its harley, dont answer.
My first thoughts are that if I had to replace it now I would look at a KTM superduke, if I could wait a bit I would wait to see if the rumoured GSX 1100 six turn up.
Something like a K1300R
1200, Crosstourer or Super Tenere, need to ride both to decide.
MJGT. i looked at super duke. its test rides are awesome votes, i like old skool looks more. thruxton is brilliant but my back wouldnt do it. maybe a norton, my 1973 commando worst bike ive owned. new one looks superb, again, so did my old one. was like the best looking girlfriend that played around. unreliable.

Thing is, I like all bike except those with a fairing (girls only) so if you asked me the same question next week I might have a different answer. I do like the Norton's and they do look and sound great.
I was going to go for a CB1300 before I spotted and fell in love with the GSX14, but was also keen on the CB900 Hornet as I also own the 600 version.
Basically any naked bike that looks like a motorbike and not a piece of plastic will do, thanks.
The xjr seems like the most similar bike, but there is a lot of different bikes out there to try so maybe it's too similar?
Mt01 with akras or Tuono for me..
Triumph Explorer or GS1200 BMW
K1300R or K1200R
I even think, I will have it as a second bike, next to my 14 :)
Naked Gen-2 Hayabusa Streetfighter. 4 into 1, ABM top yoke, Renthals.
Not that hard to do, not quite as easy to work on as a 14 and lacks the 14's
classic style, but ticks all the other box's for me.
Chain drive IL4 Suzuki over 1000cc.
Tank range.
Aftermarket goodies / new and used spares / luggage etc.
Horsepower and torque.
Radial brakes.
Reasonable comfort (different seats and foot pegs available)
As a stock standard bike I really don't know.
Neither the Busa or the King would make a replacement for my 14.
Maybe the Kawasaki ZX14R or the shaft drive GTR14 ?
i would have a Tesco trolley with some kind of motor fitted as I am asthmatic and need all the help I can get when my better half fills the trolley and then I get really out of breath when I see the bill . :rofl2:

MT01 looks appeal to me.
hmmmm Suzuki 750 GT kettle :onya:
Well, I would retire with the rest of you to a hollowed-out volcano to plan the invasion of the alien world where all the 14's were taken to.
I too would struggle finding ANY bike to replace the 14. There are plenty of good bikes out there, but none quite do what the 14 can, in the way it does. In all likelihood the XJR would be closest but.... naah, leaves me a bit cold.
I am a big fan of 1400-ish engines, but
GTR14 - not as good in corners, Not as good looking.
Guzzi California 1400 - heavier, definitely not even vaguely a sporty.
While no longer sold new, another bike I quite liked and which would be a good daily rider, is the Guzzi Breva 1200, so I'd probably get one of those.
@grog I test rode one of the Norton 961 Café bikes (I know the dealer). Holy hell are those bars low... a really cranked over riding position that would be extremely unpleasant for any extended period.(especially for anyone over about 5'6")
Looked bloody awesome though, makes lovely noises and goes around corners really quite well....
If I were to buy a Norton I'd only get the one with the higher bars.
Of course you'd REALLY want to want one, there are plenty of other ways to spend those sort of $
The chain drive ZX14R came in a Brembo / Ohlins edition.
Vlad, only thing i like about Norton is its looks. was same in early 70s, got a Norton on its looks. still remains my worst bike. piece of junk no matter what i did to it. most, nearly all, new bikes leave me cold. thruxton r, beautiful. wheel chair would be ordered at same time. xjr and honda 1300, just pale compared to 14. ill just stick to mine. i do like a project of busa to naked. been researching for a while. must be the best motor/gearbox/frame/ brakes ever put in a bike. one day ill do that.

Two for sale here....2016 $25500 and 2014 $16500, Ohlins and Brembo brakes.
Used (if I could find one good enough) would be from 1200 Bandit, Yam FJ1200, Honda X11, BMW 4 cylinder (not twins)
New - Yam MT10, Honda CB1100 RS

I completely forgot about the X11! That was also on my shortlist before I decided on the GSX.
X-11 never made it down here, I'd love to ride one.
A Yamaha Bulldog also had my interest for a while.
X11, I didn't like the brakes or the front end.
For a bike based on a Sportstourer it needed more go. Felt tame.
CB1100RS, now gets 17" wheels, but still only a 180 rear.
My neighbour has one, gutless engine and small fuel tank.
MT10 I like !
Great bike (I know a guy who makes supercharger kits for them)
but quite different to a GSX1400. I'd have one as a more sporty naked
For solo rides and chasing mates, not for touring, cruising or pillions.
Tony why an MT10 for that role when already have a b-king!

The MT10 is closer to a naked modern Sportsbike, where the King is closer to a naked 10 year old Sports Tourer.
The MT is shorter, lighter, more nimble with some clever electrics and gadgets.
just do not know, Mr suzuki wants to hurry up and pull his finger out of his arse and get something very similar to the gsx1400, mine now got 82000 miles and counting. :hat: :hat:

Exactly - the problem (for Mr Zook) is that GSX1400's are lasting so many of us don't NEED to replace them....
Photo of what i have now and what id like to have as well....
No more 14s, while the 14 is with us there is nothing on the market that takes my fancy, with the 14 gone probably a cb1300.
