for last few years i have been using pirelli angel tyres
the st when they first came out
then
the gt's when there came out
with st's i was getting 8000 miles from the front and 5000 from the rear tyres
with the gt's i now get 11000+ miles frim the front and 8000 mile from the rear tyres
for the last few years pirelli has done spring time deals making a pair around £195 fitted to lose wheels
seth
:onya: thats a good deal and a lot of miles out of a set not bad at all
the blue/white bike has 136-140bhp at rear wheel and all 3 bikes are mostly loaded with luggage/camping gear too.
on long runs/trips
Any noticeable difference in handling between the ST & the GT Seth? I'm close to changing mine, PR4GT's & was going for Angels this time to see any difference - Grog loves his Angels.
Then I thought, maybe I should just try the PR4. Think the GT casing might be a bit stiff for the 14, maybe the std one would be an improvement for our bike - ??
Anyone tried both? PR4 & the GT version as a comparison? I'd be interested in hearing. Thx
i didn't notice any difference in handling but does feel more sure footed in the rain with the G/T's and a lot more miles too.
I've used Angels for a few years now love em, I think they grab the road very well.
I am very partial to the Angel GT as well. They give excellent grip, good longevity and have very neutral feel for cornering, they are also very stable in a straight line. My previous go to tyre was the Bridgestone but the were to popular in colder climates.
Angel Gt's great tyre cannot fault them, had the st before that!! ;)
think i will be going for a set of the gts seth sound a good set of tyres thank guys :onya:
keep an eye on any offers as in the uk the last 4-5 years they have done either money off or cash back deals at the start of the season march/april
making a pair just under £200 fitted
ive not tried any other of the modern makes and models of tyres as i have likes the pirelli's
:onya:
yes i will be on the look out for any offers thanks and i will be asking for the old forces discount as well ,,,, got to try them all to get the price down :onya:
cheap skate :rofl2:
but I'm the same
get as many discounts as possible and spend the savings on petrol
:salute:
or more parts and mods good to save a penny or to :onya:
Old forces discount Chris tell me more ???
coldhands
sorry its for people that are serving in the armed forces ,,, it depends on the firm or outlet if they give the discount to the armed forces
I might try GT's next, my tiger sport has ST's and I find them pretty good except they die very quickly, went from looking fine to showing the banding in less than 100 miles.
I went from Bridgestone BT-023 to Angel GT's and they are an excellent tyre. Much better than the Bridgestones and very stable, especially over painted surfaces/line's where the Bridgestones use to skip out from under you.

Rod ask about lion-tamer's discount.
:rofl2: :rofl3: :stir:
agree totally Sweaty. michys before angel gt. twitchy on white lines and longitudinal cracks. very bad. 13 th ks they did. very impressive mileage. angel gt have been faultless. nearly 20 th ks now. just keep going. if they stuff up in last 100 ks, so be it. been the best ive ever had. keep the pressure up, if they fall below 36 psi can really tell. 36f and 38 r i use. next set i think ill use 38&40. mates 14 flogged out bridgys in 5 th ks. must be others on here with a few ks up on angels now. others have said they wear uneven, two different compounds, not mine. will take a pic tomorrow of them at 20 th.
That's great to hear Grog, bloody hell, 20K and still going. :boogie:
hi grog
just to clarify what make and style you say are good ;;;; cos you lost me in the long but good chat over the tyres and mileage
cheers sorry to ask :onya:

Grog runs Angel GT's on his bike.
me too
angel GT's rock
:crash: :tease: :soapbox:
me three
angel GT's really rock :stir: :smile2:
thats what i was trying to say, they rock. find me something better and ill use it. my view on modern tyres is , they all grip, its the lasting and feel that is the difference. pr2 i loved, hated the moving around on line thing but got used to it. first two corners on angels, what a difference. some things stick in your head, those first two corners did with me. bike just sort of fell in, no effort. still same feeling all these ks later but not quite as good.
thank you grog
and thank you to all the rest of the lads for there help :clapping:
cheers :onya:
I am currently on PR4 and got great mileage however did not like the grooves going across the tyre. I get a lot of wear on the RHS - they say it is the camber of the road but I put it down to the speed and angle I go around the roundabouts
I am about to go back to Angel GT as last time I felt more comfortable on them and they are also excellent in the wet
run angels gt on both of girls the longest one there on has done 13000kms now on them still look as good as, wear wise look as good as the new ones put on around 2000kms ago more than happy with there performance ..
I'll add a bit in here again, I've just recently fitted up Angel GT's (had PR4GT's prior)
I've just done over 1200k on them right out of the box & 400 - 500 of those k's were in the wet. I must say how pleased I was with their performance, not once did they feel slippery in the wet, squirm around on lines in the road and no problem with painted markings & arrows either.
They gripped & held good in the corners (even though it was wet on 1st ride). I got way further over than I intended to breaking them in & not 1 hint of slippage.
Yep, I'd bet my life on them - don't we all though.
Just took the plunge after reading reviews on here. Pair of GT's getting fitted today. :clapping:
I reckon you will like these :onya:
Thanks. I just fancied a total change. Last time I had a Pirelli fitted - it was called a Pirelli Phantom. Now we are talking years ago..!
Run Bridgestone since 2000. 10/11/14/20/21/23 in various forms.
Pirelli phantoms, you old bugger :whistling:
I could never afford them but Pirelli have resurrected the pattern for their retro bikes a coup of years ago.
Had Pirelli Phantoms on my XJ750 in the early 80's thats after wearing out a set of Dunlop Elites.
Milage not good on those tyres back then. Did a double when i saw Phantoms on the tyre rack at the local bike shop the other day.
wow, is this a memory trip. had dunlop elite on a gs1000, spent ages trying to figure out why it moved all over the place. was the tyres. fitted phantoms and was perfect. had michelin a47 on front of ducati, perfect. they changed to a48, couldnt keep it on the road. again phantom solved the prob. that must be 30 yrs ago.
Yep - the in-combination at the time was. Metzeler ME99 front. Pirelli Phantom rear.
Bearing in mine the Phantom needed scrubbing in. 800 miles to a rear was a bit rubbish...
