it's the meeting of gsx1400 owners and their bikes from all across the uk and a few from europe. :stir:

That's only 20 miles from me, so I might pop along ( in the car ) & say hi to you guys, the last time I met any of you was at the 2009 Org meeting at the Motorcycle museum.

yes i will get you a drink or two three four :onya: seth
and wow wot a sight to see that many 1400 in one place :smitten:
seth - obviously with the other forum down/gone there are no "more details on the other forum".
So if everyone can post any details they have re UK MCR 15 in this thread, I'll make another with the key points so it won't get 'lost in the mix'
I can also do a separate page on the site ( http://gsx1400owners.org/wp/ ) if there's enough info, with some pics from past MCR's. That way anyone will be able to see it even if they don't register.
Let me know how I can help.
Cheers
Vlad
good idea
only info i have is from chatting with sheff
last week but i will keep in touch and get more details as they come and pass on yo here .

@seth and whoever else..
As mentioned earlier, I can put up an MCR15 page on the website, similar to the Aussie one ( http://gsx1400owners.org/wp/australia-mcr9/ )
I'd just need some basic details and ideally a map from google earth or something along those lines.
(Use Aussie one for a guide if you like)
Vlad.
i'll speak to sheff tonight and get some upto date info/details and add to the forum.
As some of you may have read on The Alternative Gathering Point and Northwest 1400 Owners Groups on Facebook, Peter Sheffield has resigned from his role as Admin and Rally organiser at GSX1400.org.
This will not affect this year's MCR as the dates are already booked and we are already in the process of organising the event.
Sheff will still be very much involved this year but he has enough to do with the wedding so any questions please contact me not Pete.
Location - The Old George, Sykehouse, DN14 9AU.
Format will be as previous years.
Friday - meet & greet, auction, drink beer, talk shite.
Saturday - Rideout, live band, raffle, Cozi Award, drink more beer.
Sunday - Say our farewells and bugger off home.
If you have any bike parts, bike gear, alcohol etc that you would like to donate to either the Friday auction or Saturday raffle then please contact me NOT Sheff (he has enough on his plate this year).
We still want an idea of numbers so please pm me if you plan on attending and you haven't already done so on FB.
All profit from monies raised at MCR15 will be donated to a charity of Sheff's choice this year.
Cheers
Spike.
Thanks for the update Spike :)
Ok folks...MCR is getting nearer. If anyone has any items they are able to donate to the auction or raffle please let me know by pm or email andybrearley@gmail.com so I can make a list before the event.
Spike
I will be there Andy. Maybe Elaine too.
Cheers
I should be able to make this as I'm kinda close by.

Black Cherry flavour i seem to recall Dave... i also seem to remember that the whole bottle was consumed within about five minutes !!
Sorry you're not there this time, i'll get there again this year with Nigel as per usual :boogie:
I might not have a 14 any more but I'm still coming to this :)

Only a week away now, if we get enough of a dry spell this weekend I'll be putting my tent up in the garden to see if it's still ok-not used it for a couple of years now!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again, i reckon it will be quieter tho after the demise of the original org. As there's no list (that i've seen) we can't be sure of numbers.
I'll always remember SCR one year when i was the only guy that turned up on the first night !! Second day, Tank, CBG and Nigel turned up and we had a right laugh. So it's quality, not quantity
You coming on four wheels this year Dave?
No I'll not be there this year Chris, unfortunately have other commitments.
At a guess this will be the last year it will run given that Sheff will no longer be involved, to me he was the main character of these events and made them what they were.
planning to be there so hopefully heading down on friday.
if anyone else heading south give me a shout and maybe meet up on route .

I'll be in the car for sure mate, the 14 is gone now but I wouldn't have been up to riding that far anyway and even if I was the missus couldn't do it-I do still get her out on the bike but half an hour is about her limit now even on a good day. I've even been thinking about getting a towbar on the Jeep and trailering the Triumph when we go away, it'd be bloody expensive as that car is heavy on the petrol anyway but since the Triumph is so easy for me to manage with my dodgy joints I reckon I could load and unload it myself and it'd give me the chance to ride roads further from home again :)
I'll be heading up for the ride out,
Is there any word on timing/ route for this year?
Cheers

Are you sure there is a ride out Nigel? No details have been provided on this, nor if there is any band for the Saturday evening. I'd email Andy (as above) to find out, else you may have a ride up there for nothing (unless you want a chinwag).

Hi please could you let me what is the format for Saturday 29th July MCR. I am hoping to ride down from Darlington in the morning.
Regards
wigwham
Won't that be hanging around in a field of tents and bikes, drinking to beer, talking about bikes, eating processed pork products and maybe a band on later. Also hoping it doesn't rain?
All sounds good except the tent part to me so might call in but not stay over.
Yep - also planning to come down on the Saturday morning. And tag along on the ride-out.
MCR15 Details of rideout etc to be found here

I'll keep a look out on here - I quite like the ride out.
in the past
friday night is the auction in the pub .
saturday late morning the ride out .
saturday night band, raffle!(i think) and trophies.
this year I've not hot a clue so hopefully an up date soon !
i do know some folk have sent things for the auction but not a clue to any arrangements.
I'm thinking of heading down but 800 miles round trip to sit about drinking in the rain isn't totally appealing at the moment so hopefully some info this week.

I'm for sure really hope it will go on even next year and on (fingers crossed) :) as i dont have any possibillity to attend this year :cry2: :cry2:.
But if it's a go next year (still fingers crossed  ) count me in and this time back on the bike no more cage driving to a bike meet :imrgreen:.
Anyhow have a great MCR my friends :salute: i will join you from here at friday night with a beer or more (probably even at saturday to)  .

That's not good - did you not have the route files downloaded to you sat navy Nigel?
Still poor on behalf of whoever was the tail gunner on the rideout though they should have been aware you were not there given your bike was on the forecourt.

Hi Dave,
TBF they did give out print outs but I figured I wouldn't need it so didn't have the post code, the destination was "a pub near Cadwell "so no chance of saving the day!
Went to Lincoln and had a lovely piece of vanilla sponge 👍

Lol you may have a point there Col🤘
i didn't go on the ride out.
sorry i missed you at the start as i was having an old man power nap before refurbishing chris's brakes .
Absolutely gutted i missed this weekend.. Im thinking we need to establish a new 'commitee' for the new UK MCR if this is the last time the current organiser is doing it.
it was anounced during the raffle that this was the last mcr run by sheff and spike .
they will continue to host an event each year for charity but it's felt that the current mcr was part of the old org .so they will have a rally/meeting but name it something else as its more of a family/friends get together than a full on bike rally .
i had a great weekend tho it was an 820 mile round trip for me .
if this org wants to host an mcr in the future i suggest we ask to use the name and if everyone happy get our heads together and sort it out .
as most of the folk at this last mcr aren't on here .
seth
HAHAHA, i got left behind at caenby corner fuel stop, came outside after queing for bogs to find all had buggered off, but, as i have the fast red black and gold wheels, a few spurts at 130 soon had me back with the pack lol :onya:
Hi Riz,

Not sure that we need to ask to use the name 'MCR'. Nobody owns it as such, BUT out of respect to Sheff you could certainly ask him.
i think if someone else uses the mcr name for a rally with out asking it would not be supported and remember the death of the old org was nothing to do with the people running the "mcr".
sheff had the same warning as the rest of us and synk still as not replied or spoken to him about it all.
i wouldn't be happy if the "mcr " name was just used by other without the go ahead of the blessing of the original "mcr" organiser's as they did it for the last15 years giving all their unpaid time and effort over the years.
i also think they will be fine about it too.
also in some way a new/continuation of the "mcr" would be directly using there reputation.
I've been involved with running rallies etc for over 30 years nothing worse for the reputation and attendenance than any bad feeling about the event.
its great here was set up to carry on the following for our bikes and thank you very much for it all.
but if the rally is going to be carried on lets do it right as we can speak to all involved with the old mcr organisation.
Very happy with that.
I'll leave it to you UK types to sort that out as you see fit. :onya:
We'll continue to use the MCR name here is Aus :) (different organisers etc)

I think the main problems will be attendance, location and funding. Many who attended MCR of late were more allied with the alternate org (on Facebook) or the UK North West owners club. Many are not on this forum. But we could look at that.
Second - location. The George at Sykehouse might have been central for U.K. attendees but as a facility it was absolutely atrocious, again which stopped many attending.
Third - we'd have to consider how it was funded and how that would work (any bands etc)
All of these can be addressed - but need to be carefully considered.
Lastly - who would want to take on the events management role?
Quote from: gsxbarmy on Monday, 31 July 2017, 05:49 PM

Nobody in their right mind !
Fortunately we have plenty on here who aren't !
I think any further discussions for future MCR's or '14riders rallies' should be taken to a new thread.
All those in favour say Aye, Aaaayyyyyeee. There ya go, motion carried, new thread it is.

Just to clarify a few things regarding the rideout.
I went to some lengths to setup the outward and inbound legs on Tyre and then create gpx files for those with Garmin satnavs. GSXbarmy and VladTepes kindly uploaded them on this forum for people to download.
Prior to the start of the rideout I issued anyone that wanted it with a print out copy of the maps so they had a rough idea where they were if they got lost. The postcodes of The Green Man pub and The Old George were written at the top of each page.
As always, during the Friday night auction; Sheff gave the start time and told everyone to fill up with fuel BEFORE we set off.
Unfortunately, at Retford, many of the riders missed a turn due to awkward road layout and heavy traffic.....but there was a bike at the junction waiting; he just wasn't seen.
After a few more junctions with no sign of a waiting bike, those riders re-grouped and Sheff moved from tailender to lead and got them to The Green Man.
We then had a good run back via Caistor, Brigg and S****horpe with only AJ and CBG losing us as AJ stopped for fuel (MT09 small tank) which he had told me about but I forgot.....apologies AJ.
Then we all got pissed and had a great night.
Spike

I'm confused! I didn't lead the group past Caenby Corner if that's where you got left behind, but can only apologise. Keeping everyone together is not an easy task.
