I had one of them in 1982, what an awesome machine (at the time).  I was getting through 4 tyres and a chainset every year so it had to go, I rode it every day like I stole it, and that costs  :lol:

I think I can help here.

My tip is to only use two different coloured wires, this makes fault finding much easier. If the problem is not in the red wire by process of elimination it must be the black one that is the problem....
