Title: rough running problems
Post by: seth on Monday, 30 January 2017, 05:58 AM
think i found the problem

what do you lot think

i recon it was some kind of masking that was left in after  the tank was painted

now been through the whole fuel system and all looking good now hopefully be good when i get everything back together.

That was in the fuel tank omg

it was but think nearly all of it is there
i couldn't work out what all the crap was in the teebag filter on the fuel pump
its to big to go futher in to the pump but big enough to clog pipe that goes to the pump in the tank.

think it was masking from when the tank was repainted a couple of years ago and missed
everything now fully cleaned and checked so should be ok

glad i gound something as been scratching my head about the poor starting for a while.

so a bit of relief to be honest

Well let hope that it's the end of your problems, and the bike runs better than it ever done ✅

Fingers crossed

I am just hoping that mine will be sorted when I get my new camshaft sensor.

My next job is to check my fuel ⛽️ filters and clean them

good luck with your camshaft sensor i think you have info on others that are the same ftom other models or bikes and snowmobiles etc .

cleaning the fuel filters is straight forward just take it easy and slowly

i was very impressed by wynns carb cleaner from halfords it high pressure and worked great on the teebag filter  and fuel lines

well here the awaited up date

sensor fitted after a small mod ie ... the sensor plug that came ,, didn't seat the right way as our does the connection port did running from the front of the bike to the back.   this one sat out to the left ie as the bike turns left so was the plug facing that way.. so not to bad

and were you had the Allen key  bolt that tightened it down this was a little out of line .. ie a bit short of the hole for the bolt ;;; so I drilled the new one a bit bigger to the left of the original hole and fitted a washer and it sat in place just nice

I had to fit three spade connecter from the new plug and run them into my original wiring connecter .. as the old one didn't fit the new connecter .. only three wires so not to bad to find the right combination

old plugs out ..black sooty not nice light brown

so all fitted and new plugs fitted fired the blue bitch up light goes out the dreaded f1 and she ticks over sweet as a nut
took the bike for a ten mile run low pace and med then a bit of high running back to low and home felt like a different bike really different smooth pickup was great and lots of power

so my end summary is camshaft   sensor knackered  resulting in the plugs being  over fuelled and causing misfiring

total cost of the job

£20 for the camshaft sensor all in
£20.80 for plugs
and weeks of my frustrated life trying to sort this out that  I wont get back

but all is good now  :onya: time for a

To answering your questions on the pug screen about vibration. After getting the bike to run ,, I took it for a speed run and went up to 120 and the screen make a hell of a difference it was nice not buffeting as much as with out it  :onya: :onya:
