Well engine cover looked like first pic below, so I decided to give it a sand down. I didn't want a polished finish but more of a brushed finish.......I mirror polished my bandits engine parts and was forever having to clean them!!!

Next I changed my gear lever rod for a stainless one ( THANKS BARMY  :imrgreen: ), then fitted my blue twin snail horns, then added some blue to my radiator scoops, then swapped out my "easystart" branded battery (which wouldn't start the bike) for a decent Yuasa one.

All in all I'm happy with my few bits I tinkered with!!

Checked my tyres and pads, front tyre and rear pads need replacing.

And also made a new gasket for the engine cover. Couple of quid on eBay for the gasket paper then just a sharp Stanley to trim to suit. I did use a black marker on the edges of the cover which I then pressed onto the paper to transfer an outline to cut to.

Nice work Gaz (the gear change rod looks awesome!  :onya:) impressed with your gasket making, I can never get the holes right..... :clapping:
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

looking good there
once i had to make a gasket in a hurry to help a friend get away on the same day for the clutch cover on a fj1200
we didnt have any gasket paper so used a cornflake packet.
it only lasted 7 years till the clutch needed looking at again and we realise we never put a proper gasket in.

wouldn't recommend it but if your stuck it works

I have made loads of gaskets out of thick card over the years, didn't know you could buy gasket paper.

Just been out and fitted some new bar risers.
Had issues with the drag bars fitted and the switch gears were very very close to the tank.
Problem now solved.
Oh..And fitted a sticker too

2 x oil and filter changes
a strange thing the k5 and k6 have different sump bolts

k5 is a 19mm headed bolt shorter and a larger magnet
k6 is a 17mm headed bolt longer with a smaller magnet
only slight differences but strange none the less

Busy weekend really ... strip, paint & re-seal calipers, strip forks & steering head awaiting arrival of bearings & seal kit.

The oil in the forks was putrid after 40,000km & 27 months. Definitely a yearly service from now on.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.
