I'd use it. My chain & sprockets have been a lot dirtier than that in winter & then done thousands of miles more the next summer.

Given the look of that area, I'd def check/change the hub sprocket bearing as well

KAK it definitely deserves some cleaning and inspection. Don't condemn it due to the dirt build up. It may have actually protected itself.  :stir: :stir: :stir:

Started to rebuild a spare set of front forks for the Bandit. Couple of pits in one's on now and up for MOT.
Spare one's have good chrome but leak on one leg thus the rebuild.
There are some butchers out there.
