First what, then why :)

What we are looking for please:

We'd like members to submit images which include their GSX1400 in some way.
Required size is 1200 wide x 200 pixels high. (to avoid stretching) ideally in .jpg format.

If you are providing a 'scenery with bike in it' pic, the bike needs to be in the right hand half of the image.
If it's a close up, then it can take up all the image space no worries.

Simply upload the image to this thread as an attachment please.

But do give some consideration to images that you may be able to offer.  :onya:

Why?

Well it's still a fair way off, but one of the things that needs to be developed for when the new version of the software comes on line is a theme.

A friend in the UK is working on this for me. Development and testing of the theme will take a while but the more material we have for it the better.

Oh and if anyone is a dab hand with photoshop (or similar)  and wants to do a 'abstract' background image (not a photo), let me know and I'll pass on what we need in that regard design wise.

Cheers all

Ya sure you want 1200 x 200?   Just changed one of my pic's to that & it stretched alright, unrecognisable.

Ok, 1200 x 200 works, but ya have to select 'Maintain aspect ratio' else you'll get a real stretched pic.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

KiwiCol

Scratching me head on this, didn't work, then it did & now it doesn't again.

Wee sample, first is the original pic,

Then 1200 x 200 (not maintained ratio) To maintain the ratio, you can't have 1200 x 200 format, it's either 1200 across OR 200 high, can't have both and maintain the original aspect ratio. (On this laptop anyway)

Then 1200 wide aspect ratio maintained

Then 200 high, aspect ratio maintained

I think it's the last version of the below you're needing, the one with '200' set as height.

😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

That's right you need to crop a photo to those dimensions

Above pic was saved in 1200x200. Attaching it here changed the size!

Andre

Uploaded it to the gallery with the same resize result. @VladTepes I'll email the pic to you.

OK once again looking for photos

As stated, image size is to be 1200x200.

In order to see whether your photo is workable AND to get the 1200x200 format needed, use this online program

https://www.befunky.com/features/crop-photo/

Simply
1. Click on get started
2. At top lick on open, then on 'computer'
3. Find your photo on your computer and click on that.and then click open.
4. At the left of screen click on crop.
5. Set width to 1200, and height to 200.
6. You will see that the image 'greys out' aside from whats in the highlighted box.  You just grab that box, click left mouse button in centre of image (ie not at the edges) and shift it around until it covers the past of the photo yoiu want - but retains that 1200x200 size.

(see attached photo below)

7. Once you've decided where you want it, click the tick.

The program now shows you the final image.

8. Click Save, click computer, select jpg format, nudge quality to 100, click save.

Your computer may now ask where you want to save it - this varies with operating system but basically click save as and tell computer where you want to save it.

Note: The image you start with must be at least 1200 wide to begin with.

Send your file to admin@gsx1400owners.org

please include your forum username in the email.

Any problems, say so here and I'll help.

Cheers

Attached is the final image from the above example  (shows the result but while proportions are the same it did resize it on upload here, which is why I ask that you email the images rather than upload them here)

Alternatively upload them to your user gallery (see link in menu bar) and just provide the link here in the thread.

I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

VladTepes

Hey Stan please see instructions above.  Uploading reduces file size - needs to be emailed ALSO needs correct proportions. I'm not sure that particular image will work.

These ones may be boring but they are 1200 x 200 pixels .....
I can email these if you want them.  :onya:

VladTepes

Good job.

They all resize to 1024x pixels when uploaded to the forum (to save forum storage space) so yes please do email them to the email address above.  :onya:

@KiwiCol  if the original image you are using is at least 1200 wide, then email it to me as well and I'll havea  fiddle and see what I can come up with.
