I don't like waveys on anything, they look broken.

That would annoy me.

I like the drilled pattern to go the other way,
Holes trailing / Catherine wheel style.
That makes my mind think it's going backwards.

I think mine go the other way but it is a K7 and I'm sure more holes.
It is quite common to see early model GSX and GS around eighties with that direction but it was not factory usually switched after a rebuild.

A different thread went way off topic into this direction so thought I'd start a thread for folk to show the many different disc set ups available for our bikes .
As for disc's themselves the options are
Round ,Semi-wavey and
Wavey discs.
There are many manufacturers of disc with varing claims on performance.
They also vary across a wide price range.

Just 1 thing to add front and rear discs are the same part number across all years of gsx1400 and the fronts are also used by other Suzuki models (never checked the rears for other models using them)

Thanks Seth. I just use standard discs on mine, all in good nick, calipers etc. I dont mind them at all. Today i took Diavel to service, clean, fill with ulp. I sure know how good brakes can be, that thing is amazing. If there are better, not sure how. Back on 14 tomorrow, just needs me to re adjust. I dont find it a problem.

Well it does, if you are an anorak into classic bike and it is not the way it came out of the factory. It also annoys some people.
Personally I prefer it like Tony says and I am not an anorak but I am known to annoy people.
I believe performance wise it makes no difference but maybe it would in wet conditions.
I just remembered my back disc may not be factory as I replaced the wheel and that disc was on it.
