on the old org we did how to drill out high pressure filter in tank. anyone know how to post it. one of the best mods ive done. Snapey made a beautiful bracket for filter. locates at rear of tank. mines been on a while, just open up and clean out. always know that filter is clean and free flowing. just makes life easy and knowing you can clean , a major plus for me.

If be interested in seeing that.  Intriguing.

Yeah, me too, im interested in this. My bike stood with water in the tank for years before she came to me and every few months i have to strip down the tank to clear the rust out... There is less and less everytime but still.
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

Have a read of this thread Jay http://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=430.0 - within it there are also details of the stuff you can get from Frosts to reseal the tank  :onya:
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Proteous

Yep, i have seen that. I have already halted the rust from getting worse, its the debris already in the tank that is the problem..

Good instructions on drilling the fuel pump on the DL1000 forum ... Admin, can I suggest saving this somewhere please. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6105.0.html

Also a couple of pics of my external filter.

I'm happy with that mod as well.

Grog found the filter that Snapey, Grog and myself have used a 30micron reusable 5/16 barb ProFlow, use 5/16 EFI hose, EFI hose clamps and you can re-use the quick disconnect tank fittings if you just carefully
cut horizontally through the old hose at the fitting.

As Snapey mentions above read through here to see details on how to drill out our filter - http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6105.0.html.

Even if you don't do the mod, changing out the fuel line to new EFI line is a good idea in my opinion.

Any other proposals for external filter?
@Andre share this DeatschWerks filter- https://www.deatschwerks.com/sites/www.deatschwerks.com/files/DATA/DWFF70%20Tech%20Sheet.pdf but it's quite big and I can't find it in Europe.

@RickC  share filter what is only 30μ, may be it's enough, but I like to belive 10μ is better...

Any other options?

grog

Northern, if you dont like Proflow, check out Golan from usa. 10 micron & 200psi. Around $50.

northern

Thank you Grog. I may like what I saw and read. And may ahve a try this one if I find cheap delivery - Amazon want ~44€ to deliver

For now, I just order ~10€ MANN MWK 44 filter, what is used OEM replacement on BMW, Triumph and some other motorcycles.

Deatschworks distributor in Estonia (according to dealer listing of Deatschworks https://www.deatschwerks.com/dealer-locator

VKM Motors

If not, this is a German dealer who carries them https://www.turbozentrum.de/In-line-fuel-filter-element-and-housing-kit-stainless-steel-10-micron-8AN70mm-Universal site is in English too.

That filter is the only one that fits MY requirements (micron, flow, ss-filter element, size, serviceable) that I have found so far. Certainly there should be other options available.

Have read multiple places that fuel injectors need 10 micron. . I know some here have 30 micron filters put in and seem happy with it.

northern

I know those VKM motors. The business owner is drag-racer and was (is) v6 cars European record owner. They are basically performance cars builders.

But they only sell DW fuel pumps...

Thx for German link. Saw it - it will cost me more than 100€ to order from there, and AN lines have to be added...
but who knows - money is to spend :)

Andre

The MANN MWK 44 will probably be just fine. Can buy a few for that money.

But then, as you say, money is there to spend

grog

Turbozentrum with magnet sure sounds good. my Proflow, have had apart and checked a few times. just a blow out with air gun, no probs. bike definately runs perfect. dropping pressure Northern, its your problem. youll be amazed when fixed.
