Amazing stuff you have Mate. You and Snapey would have fun together.

Snapey

Surplus to requirements or I need to get rid of some shit.

Free to good home ... unused 1964 US navy battery charger. The motor runs perfectly and probably charges too. It should, it's new.

Pick up only.

So today I started with NPR300/6 scissors renovating. It will be challenge. Absolutely all parts are damaged.
But what would one expect from a scrapyard...
Today I disassembled the scissors and repaired the first part. I repaired damaged teeth on the lever. The only problem is that almost all parts are made from "litina" in my language. Cast iron in english probably. This material is complicated to weld. It must be heat up before welding and cool very slowly.
Here is my solution.

Heating in boiler...

Welded by PP315.21 posted earlier here...

Slowly cooling in hot ash...

Finished ground teeth and repaired thread...

Vic, had a look at anvils, seems mines just a baby at 35 kg.

Next part for scissors ready. New jaws. Made to order because the manufacturer of scissors no longer exists.

Next part will be main body. It's totally squeezed. Needs to make some housing for a new precise screw.

Finally almost done. All I have to do is paint one part and make a stand. They work perfectly. It is not a problem to cut from paper up to 6mm thick iron.  :boogie2:

PS: Excuse the mess in the barn and the cat in the photo (everytime wants to help me)  :rofl2:

I've had this lying around for ages but had no idea what it was or did .... until now. Once I knew what fitted in the end of the jaws the penny dropped. Who knows what it is?

I just had a clean out of old tools I've never used or even why you'd bother. This lathe centering device is beautifully engineered but not much use these days.

Another tool I've never seen used in my 60+ years in the trade are toolmakers buttons.

Snapey - isn`t the tool in your photo`s the `Mk2 Medieval Penis Crusher`?? I think the `Mk1`had only two jaws and they had terrible trouble with slippage, hence the mod.  :rofl2:
