JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdrivers.  Anyone using them ?

Worth having ? Where / which did you buy ?

I'm a bit of a tool hoarder and collector and like my toys so I'm tempted to try a set, just wondered if anyone has any actual experience other than i saw it on the Internet.

Their left handed screwdriver is just the best.

So I need a left handed JIS Screwdriver....  :frustrated:

I'm left handed !
(Except I shoot right handed as I never saw a left handed gun in my early years)

I bought a set from ebay a while ago, can't say enough good things about them.

If I'd found them years ago I would have had a few less rounded screws in bikes, not so
much of a problem today but they lock in nicely to the screws and don't round out like a normal Phillips head.

These are what I bought, cost me $10 or $15 dollars more a year ago, you'd be mad not to try them for $25.

Agree, jis works better. I only have one, like no. 2 phillips. Never got round to buying set. Hozan, vessell and sunflag all top quality jap stuff. I have sunflag thats been flogged for 40 yrs, still as new. 20 of those daily mechanic use.

Do JIS drivers work better in phillips screws than phillips drivers?

Is there an easy way looking at a screw to identify the difference?

Yes, I have the Japanese made Vessel set and they grip Phillips head screws better than my German made Phillips screwdrivers.

Note though, a Phillips screwdriver will most likely strip out the JIS screw, but not the other way around.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Isn't there a dot on the head of a JIS bolt? Or is that just on some?

I've misplaced my good JIS screwdriver, bloody annoying,  but guess its oletimers beginning to set in . .

Correct. JIS screws do have a dot on the head to identify them :onya:

From memory(which isn't too good these days) there aren't many JIS screws on the GSX1400. The only ones I can think of are the ones that clamp the two parts of the handlebar switch gear together.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Yes apparently on most made in Japan items, can't say I've ever paid attention if they do though.....

I bought a set when I had the VFR

Very handy... and the only thing that would get some of the screws out

One's an impact style... give it a whack and it turns about 10 degrees
