Hi Daytona,

Gorgeous  helmet.
I remember the Britsh 500cc GP at Silverstone in 79 between Sheene and Kenny Roberts an amazing race.

wear it with pride. :hat: :salute:
It's better to have been a has-been than a never-was!

@Chrisl Yeah Barry lived here on the Gold Coast for years up to his untimely death.  He was a great, and very popular, motor racing commentator (bikes and cars).

@grog  Yeah buying anything from a Land Rover Dealer is the sort of thing people who light Cuban cigars with US $100 notes do.

Car at work today. Ultimate stupid prices. GT3RS Porsche, 500 g to buy then hotted up. Fastest road registered Porsche in Oz. Weighs only 1200kg, over 500bhp. Wheels were added at 40g the set. Hardly know its running at idle, quiet. 1.6 second quicker around Qld Raceway than v8 Supercar. Wheel nut torque is 600 ft/lb. Torque wrench used is 2 metres long. Wasnt allowed to test drive. Cant put up pic as number plate in view. Check caliper size, either 8 or 10 pot.

For you Vlad. 2014 Discovery, yeah, a bloody Landrover. Quoted by Landrover for battery, $1000. Just a normal calcium. I sold him AGM for just under $400. He was a happy boy.

Same here, picked up a new battery same spec as the LR OEM from battery world Yuasa brand for $285 3 years ago still going strong
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

A few years ago, had to get brake rotor and pads for the wife's car,  rang Holden, 385 per corner, pads TBA as none in stock. Fitting extra.  Rang the local ABS place, got the whole lot done for under $500  with warranty, using dba rotors and Bendix pads.  No wonder they're called "Stealers", people that don't know better are happy to pay those pricea

Set of front disks with pads for my (now sold) Audi RSQ3 - £850 - and that was just for the parts! - another £400 for the garage to fit. Wither 4 pads per caliper (2 sets of brake pads used on an RSQ3), it got to be quite expensive having new discs and pads every 30,000 miles! So I sold mine a few thou short of mine needing doing.

Timing belt on Audi's (and probably VW, SEAT and Skoda as all the same engines) have to be changed now at 5,000 miles CORRECTION: 5 YEARS (thanks erbas for pointing this out)- £495 on an Audi A1, £795 on a Q3 -  and then they recommend that at the same time you replace the water pump (another £325 if done at the same time).

Suddenly replacing a new car every few years starts to make a bit more sense if you sell it just before the big bills are due.

I remember a few years ago, the steering rack on my daughters car (Ford) needed replacing. £850 just for the rack from Ford's - however a "pattern part" - which essentially was exactly the same part, made by the same people but without the Ford logo on it - was £375.

Price of logo's eh? A licence to print money

Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

@gsxbarmy
I had this with my golf gti
The dealer wanted £700+ to replace the front discs
I got top quality disc and pads fitted them myself £75 posted to my door.
We also had the discs and pads changed in the vw tiguan by a vw specialist (not the main dealer) using genuine  vw parts £200 the discs and pads cost £120 for me buy so let them do it as part of other work I can't do (involves plugging it in he costs £45 dealer £120 for same checks using same equipment)

Crazy how much the charge
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Yes you are right, well spotted, I meant to type 5 YEARS not 5,000 MILES  - Cam Belts have to be replaced every 5 YEARS regardless of mileage

(Note: I've altered the original text I typed)

Probably for similar reasons many Germans drive big "Sport" "Utility" Vehicles to get to fitness center, shopping, and work at the office :rofl2:

Vlad, he has another 700 bhp Porsch as well. Spends half his life on race tracks. Rarely used on road.
